Hello my beloved fellows, brothers and sisters of the OT. I have used the same mattress for over 25 years, a single Serta purchased by my Mother when I was still a wee one. That mattress has served me well through the decades, but it is now like a flat tire. The springs have broken and one protrudes, poking me at night. I’ve been sleeping on a sleeping bag padded by a large blanket for the last month. I am in need of a new mattress. Please aide me in my search.

I desire a single mattress below $200. If it is less than $100 that would be better. I also desire long life — at least another 20 years from a new one. I have a Sams membership, FTR.

Thank you in advance, dear friends and loved ones.

It’s a single mattress, it shouldn’t require that much research. Go walk into any mattress store and see what they’d recommend for anyone who still lives with their parents.

In reply to this troll thread you can get a decent Serta from Sams for a pretty good price.

I don’t know about a single mattress, though, you freaking weirdo.

In no way should you ever walk into a store that sells mattresses to try them out and get prices for yourself. Seriously, that approach will never work.

My single recommendation would be to get a queen or larger

Your big department stores sell mattresses. Anything to avoid those sleazy stand alone mattress money-laundering fronts is my vote. Try Macy’s website.

You better pick one up on the side of the road.

I see no reason why a mattress shouldn’t last at least 20 years. I know the mattress salesmen say change every 5-7 years, which is ludicrous. Obviously they have reason to tell you that, just like the oil changers say you need oil changes every 3,000 miles.

Wholesale mattress factory on Florida Blvd just east of Flannery road. Go talk to them.
