So title sums it up. I can play the same app on WiFi on my iPhone, IPad but not on my Roku. Keep getting the “contact provider” even though I clearly have that package. Any tips? Do I have to get another device? If so which one? I just need basic capability (Netflix, espn, etc)

uninstall and install it again. You probably have the old version.

I'm not sure if you are having the same problem as me but I recently subscribed to ESPN+ through my Roku. However, it wouldn't let me sign in, saying my email was already in the system. I tried to reset my password but wasn't getting the emails. Long story short, I called an ESPN customer service number and they walked me through everything and were very helpful. The number I dialed was 800-727-1800. They might be able to help you.

My provider (Spectrum) won't let me access the ESPN app on Roku either but lets it play through my phone, I just mirror it to the tv.

I loved my Roku, but it did not work well with ESPN. Got a Firestick for $25 on sale, and it works like a champ.

Roku has recently announced some older models are no longer being updated. My 2XS is one of them. My Roku 3 & Roku Ultra are still being updated and play ESPN just fine. Could be time for a new Roku.
