My backyard is an absolute mess that I'm ignoring until Spring. It's primarily dirt, ground ivy and what ever other weeds I didn't spray for that pop up and I weed whack down.

Lately I've had this grass like plant growing, maybe it is grass, but it's growing out in individual stalks sort of slightly spaced out maybe a 1/8th an inch at the most. It's very green and is staying that way despite no watering except a few rains the past two weeks.

It's sort of weird, it popped up about a week ago and it's not growing at ridiculous speeds like a weed...but it's growing spaced out which is unlike anything I can find on the internet.

Sounds like your yard is shite anyway. Just do a couple of applications of napalm early next spring, wait a few rains, and sod the yard.

Does it look like this? It's a cool season something as it just started coming up in my beds. Maybe a rye of some sort?
