Based on a best-selling book, this five-part true crime docu-series investigates the unsolved murders of 8 women whose bodies were discovered in drainage canals and on desolate back roads in and around Jennings, Louisiana. In examining the lives of the young victims the series uncovers secrets of this troubled town. These discoveries lead to even more shocking accusations by victims’ relatives and friends of corruption, bad actors and institutional injustices that have left the town still searching for truth.

Definitely going for the True Detective Season 1 vibe. Looks interesting.

Look like a mix of True Detective 1 and Making a Murderer. Good formula, but will it be compelling?
I have a strange suspicion, though, that much of the stuff in the doc will be ginned up and certain evidence or angles will be intentionally left out to make for a more dramatic series, very similar to what happened on Making a Murderer.
Could be wrong, but Showtime isn't going to invest lots of resources in a series just to have it fall flat, story wise.

Also, this case and the Ponchatoula murders were the formula for True Detective S1.

Wait, didn't we just have this on another network?

Didn't know Jennings was that trashy.

After some speculation that the first season of the HBO series True Detective is based on the Jeff Davis 8 case, creator Nic Pizzolatto claimed in a DVD Commentary that he had not heard of the specific case until after the episodes had aired.

I thought they tried a little too hard to find a conspiracy angle... I could see the sheriff not wanting to create a panic by submitting to the serial killer label
