Why such strict rules for image hosting sites for Sigs and Avatars?

Is this something that TD can get changed? There are lots of great images out there that I and others would like to have as a sig or an avatar but it is impossible to find stuff of IMGUR or Flickr.

Why do you only allow certain hosting sites?

You do know that you can upload an image you like to IMGUR. You dont have to use one of their images.

I've done that with both of my images yet...they aren't working. I've asked if anyone can give me any advice on what I am doing wrong, but can't get a response.

You can upload any image you can find on the internet onto imgur. It's what the site was created for, to host images.

The biggest issue people have with images getting rejected by TD is because they are sized too large.

Yes i understand THAT I CAN UPLOAD IMAGES TO THE SITES

Im asking why? It doesnt make sense to me. Should just be able to copy and paste image address to Sig and Avatar space just like posting an img in a thread.

Is sizing the main/only reason?

this is one of the more active sites online

You may also have noticed that images in old threads are automatically converted into links

why do this? same reason that larger images sometimes don't work (or can even be moderated)

size matters, because the larger the images (or the larger the number of images hosted) the more bandwidth is taken up and used

one of the costs of running this site is paying for bandwidth

ever been on a site that runs slow as pictures load?

Maybe Chicken is open to letting you chip in monetarily so that we can have bigger images without the site slowing down, but I doubt it...
