FF3/6 and 8 are my favorites.

X comes in a distant 3rd

I don't get the hype behind 7.

The cutscene involving the assasination attempt on the sorceress is still breathtaking.

I beat it back in 2012 and my memories of the game are pretty hazy, but that is definitely one of the highlights burnt into my brain

I didn’t finish it... I’ve only finished one FF (the one with Cecil on the gameboy)

Maybe now that I can drink that would make turn-based combat more tolerable

IX is my favorite game of all time but VIII is the one I have played the most. I can't wait for this and will be getting it day 1.

And they have a fast foward option on all these new ports too.

im replaying VII with turbo mode and god mode on, it's a blast. I did everything the hard way the first time, dont need to do it all again. dont have the time

will do the same for VIII. just want to relive the story and that GOAT soundtrack

Even with the strategy guide I could never find that damned White SeeD ship. I am not looking forward to doing that again.

The official guides from Brady Games weren't as good as Versus Books.

How is this?

Considering buying....it would be my first time playing this specific FF title

Seems the reddit consensus is it is a lazy port. The PS1 version is still the best version.

But if you have not played it and don't have a PS3 or PS1 with the game laying around I would get it for sure.
Or better yet use mods to fix issues on PC.

I am sure if you were the type to draw grind (unnecessary) the speed up is great.

I'd say it's worth it, especially if you haven't played it. I had a blast playing through it again.

It gets a lot of hate, but I think the draw/junction system is fun.

What exactly do y’all mean by ‘draw’ system

You have "draw" as an option in your battle menu. You can use it to stock magic when fighting an enemy. Certain enemies carry certain spells and you use draw to obtain them, unlike most FF games where you buy or learn magic by leveling.

I haven’t played it yet, but it strikes me as strange that it would be considered a “lazy port” when they actually took the time to remaster and upgrade some of the graphics. A lazy port would just be...a lazy port.

They left the backgrounds alone though. No excuse for that with the Remako mod out there for FF7. The original release of 8 on Steam has also had an HD mod for years.
