Ex-NBA guard Joe Johnson is in Philadelphia and is working out for the Sixers tomorrow, a source told @espn @TheUndefeated. The MVP of @thebig3 also is expected to work out for the Clippers, Bucks & Nuggets. Joe Johnson & the Triplets are playing in the Big 3 title game Sunday.

Add the Pelicans to that list of interest in Joe Johnson, a source said. Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry and VP David Griffin watched Joe Johnson play in the @thebig3 in New Orleans last week.

Since were already at 15, the only player I’d take Johnson over is maybe Kenrich Williams and even then I’m not so sure since we need him to provide depth at the 4

there's roster room if they decide they want him.
okafor & williams are non-guaranteed

i know we all like kenny hustle but lets be honest, he's not going to play this year. and okafor is bleh

I'd definitely cut Williams to make room for Johnson. He'd provide great veteran leadership and locker room presence. Can help teach our young guys, and don't forget he just won MVP. Would be nice to have coming off bench.

I mean Joe is basically a 4 at this stage similar to Paul Pierce in his final seasons

Our identity is fast offense, fast defense. Kenrich is a better fit at this point, by miles, to Iso Joe.

Joe Johnson is 6'7" 240 and 38 years old.

There's a reason Joe Johnson is playing in the BIG3 league. Dude is 38 years old and not very good anymore

Agree. I would not cut anyone for Johnson. He is nothing special.

The only way they make a move for Johnson is if they don't believe in Kenrich has a backup 4. I'm not so concerned about his age as much as others as we are trying to get Vince Carter earlier and people were excited about that.

I'm more concerned with his offensive fit. He's not really a guy that pushes pace and ball movement hence the nickname. Don't need a ball stopper.

He will be in the league. I’d take him in a minute he’s still got some worthy skills if used properly

This is untrue. He still belongs in the NBA in a role very similar to Vince Carter. 10-12 MPG, maybe closing quarters. Leader too. Watching him this weekend while every player is complaining, he is as solid as he can be.

Watching him against other 40 year olds doesn't show me much of anything tbh. His last year in the league (Which was 2 seasons ago btw) he shot under 30% from 3 and right at 40% from the field. His PER was a 6.5, the previous year his PER was an 8. He was also a net -11 during his last season.

Again, there's a reason no one signed him last season. He watched the action from his couch

ETA: Also, Vince Carter has shot 35% or better from 3 each of the past five seasons; last year being 39%. His PER has never dipped below a 10 in his career. Vince Carter in his prime was also a vastly superior talent to Joe Johnson. That is an unfair comparison for iso Joe
