When I went on a charter in Louisiana we caught 100 speckled trout in a matter of maybe 3 hours. Went fishing in november the day before MsState football game @ LSU. This was 7 years ago I think 3 guys and 1 guide. It was 25 per person per boat including the captain is what we were told. We didn't ask questions.

Very rarely do freezing temperatures affect trout on the gulf coast. Unless theyre trapped in shallow water and a quick surge of cold air comes in, theyre generally fine. They obviously regulate their cold-blooded systems in deeper water, which doesnt swing up or down quickly.

Well it’s not terribly common, but I wouldn’t say it’s super rare. Quick onset as well as prolonged cold.
