Played Carter Plantation on 9/6/19.

The course is in nice shape overall.
The greens were a little inconsistent on speed but not too bad. The bunkers do need some work around them. The grass around the bunkers is super long.

I enjoyed it and would return. I like the course except for hole #9. That is a weird design to me.

Played yesterday in Ards tournament. Course was in good shape. Agree green speeds are perplexing, but otherwise it was about as good as you’d hope.

Of course it might have rained 2” after i left, but the course didn’t seem Like it would be affected by a thunderstorm.

Anyone got an update on Carter. I heard they punched last week. Greens back, yet?

Interested to hear from anyone who has played in the last week or so. The course was sold a couple of weeks ago, so I’m wondering if there have been any immediate changes.

The course 100% not sold. There have been some changes though. Any questions about the course or any changes can be directed to thood@carterplantation.com.

Or you could just tell us about the changes and whether the greens are back to normal. Lol

I've been told otherwise by someone I trust. But you seem to know something so feel free to clear things up for us.

He said it wasn’t 100% sold. So that leaves a lot of wiggle room. Could be 33% 50% sold

Played there Friday. Greens still sandy. Course is super dry and IMO not in great condition.

Played before aerification. Greens were nice. Fairways were bad.

Played today. Wasn't the worst shape in the world, but could use a bunch of rain. Webb is possibly in better shape.

Cart kid indicated they didn't sell but made a change in leadership. But he is also 19 rungs of the corporate ladder beneath anyone with actual authority. But that's probably not far from the truth.

Did they change pros? Staff has been shaky there.

I don’t think they are rehiring a pro.

They are going to go pro-less?

Does every course need a pro?
I’d rather see the money spent on a competent greens keeper.

I would think you'd need at least 1 pro or assistant pro.

In theory, you'd have the general manager handling overall operations. A food and beverage manager overseeing the restaurant and any weddings/catering. And a golf pro running the shop.

Someone has to run the golf shop. Presumably it could fall to the GM to schedule the staff of college kids to run the shop? You'd have no one giving lessons, which isn't a huge deal. You'd have to have the GM run the tournaments and do the business development for the tournaments, which seems like a lot.

Maybe you outsource the GM functions to an outside party?

But seriously, an assistant at Carter isn't making a killing. Seems like they could cover that salary and give him the ability to give lessons.
