Here is some tough love, a sub 20 isn't that fast so it's not your shoes holding you back.

Yeah, no. That’s an asinine thing to say.

It’s all good. I was running a 16:48 at 19 years old but at 31 is a different story. I obviously know shoes aren’t going to take me from a 21 minute runner to 18 minutes but just looking for any help on that matter. I’m not solely a runner. I was powerlifting for the better part of 10 years and recently made the switch to a more cardio-based regiment. I’m trying to attend Marine Corps OCS in January. I was 5’8 and about 190 6 months ago. I’m 167 right now.

My last run was yesterday morning around 8:30am. Hot and humid as hell. Didn’t get the time I wanted. Ended up with a 21 something...

Running a sub 20 probably puts him probably in the top 1% of the world and probably top 10-20% of actual runners.

Doubtful, but my point was if you already have decent shoes then gettung a new pair of whatever the latest and greatest is won't speed you up much at all.

ETA: And I was drunk when I posted previously and it was assholish what I said. I apologize.

Well like I said in a previous comment, I was running much faster earlier in my life. Ran another sub 20 this morning in the Brooks Revel 3s.

Brooks Ghost 11s

I had these and liked them a lot, but would still get a little IT band inflammation after a couple miles. Wearing the On Clouds for overpronation and they are incredible. Just my opinion.
