It had already sunk. It was apparent something was wrong with him during the Wisconsin game.

yea, I knew age was going to be your excuse.
it's not an excuse when it's a fact.
if age isnt a big deal when hiring a coach, where are all the 64+ year old coaches hired at a p5 program in the last decade?
imo if he were 55 he wouldve gotten more looks. The retread nature of coaching in cfb proves it.
its amazing how you guys act like age isnt a big deal but yet you cant find 5
p5 program that have hired a HC that was 64 or older in the last 15 years.

WTF is wrong with you? Miles is a great guy and all. We are all glad that he coached here but he should have retired after 2011 and everyone else would feel about him the way you feel about him now.
He was not a solid coach and it showed once Saban came back to the West and other West schools got better. Louisiana talent made Miles! Believe that!
What a very bad take

never said he was great. that's subjective. I said he is accomplished
Couldn’t agree with you more
My only point is that by the end, he had regressed by a fair margin. Something happened and he changed his offensive philosophy, and seemingly lost that swagger/confidence he had up until about 2011 or 2012. He then became very stubborn and refused to change despite the offensive landscape all around him changing for the better
I love Les. I just think his record is inflated a bit. I wouldn’t feel this way had he retired from LSU in 2012 or so. Maybe 2013.

The 2006, 2007, and 2011 LSU teams were the most talented teams in the nation and it wasn't even close with the exception of 2011 bama. All we got was a two loss national championship through pure luck. I always go back to what Steve Spurrier said a long time ago. LSU has the single greatest recruiting advantage in college football with the entire state of Louisiana all to itself. LSU is probably the most underachieving program in cfb history. Miles was a good coach at lsu compared to is predecessors, but that's nothing to be proud of when you actually look at that group as a whole. At the end of the day, Miles was a very average coach at best that peaked early in his career and never improved, learned from his mistakes, and adapted.

I thought that it was a "quality" take and even retracted that he wasn't solid.
I wish him well at Kansas and hope he makes some noise with a couple of upsets.

I haven’t went back ITT but it’s worth noting LSU fans don’t have to choose allegiances between O and Miles

Interesting new Les interview: says he was snubbed by Michigan;
Not surprising.
I remember both times Les was a candidate it was pretty common knowledge that the Lloyd Carr faction at UM (which apparently had a lot of stroke) didn’t like Les and didn’t want him for the HC job.

He snubbed (leveraged) LSU. Les used Michigan more than Michigan used Les.
Liked him as a person and wish him well, but I am tired of all the posts...he is an EX employee of LSU PERIOD.

Whether he was snubbed or not, he used it to get more money from LSU. Yea, we are a “decent” place to work. And make a shite ton of money.
