There are about a zillion great movies on the Criterion Channel right now, but I would like to recommend the pre-Code Barbara Stanwyck movies. If you only watch one, watch Baby Face. It is one of the primary reasons for the movie censorship which started getting enforced in the mid 1930s. It's extremely modern and doesn't feel at all like a movie made in 1933. The Miracle Woman (1931), Ladies of Leisure (1930) and Night Nurse (1931) are also great.

How many of those are inspirational tales about people with low-T overcoming adversity?

Personal favorites will try to keep brief

8 and 1/2
High and low
Lone wolf and cub series
Third man
Wages of fear
Le samourai(goat)
Hiroshima mon amour

Would also recommend getting kanopy, it’s free with a library card and has plenty of great films missing from the channel

What are you talking about? If you are into gay movies, PsychTiger, they probably have that. I think they do. Haven’t watched those so I don’t have any recommendations. Perhaps if you start a topic on gay cinema someone can steer you. Good luck with your journey.

Criterion Channel looks cool but I don't want another monthly subscription.

It has a free 14-day trial.

That's really all you need to watch their movies.

Criterion subscription would only be if you wanted to watch certain movies over and over and over again.

I don't know how it's going to work.

There are way too many films that are essential viewings for fans , no way 14 days is enough

TCM runs pre-code movies from time to time usually in September. They really are interesting.
