Orgeron: Tigers getting healthy ahead of season opener

LSU Coach Ed Orgeron about the Tigers' preparations for the 2019 season.

Talks about Jeaux being back, looks fine.

Lists the other players that have come back.

Grant should be back in a week or so.

Paraphrasing:

Bobby asks about Oline. Austin and Saadhiq have made tremendous progress. May be the most improved players on the team. They have to get better. Left guard still open - Chasen Hines, Adrian Magee, Kardell fighting for the position. If Chasen wins it he is a BIG physical guy who can get the job done.???

Kicker: Cade York has been phenomenal. 8 of 10 long of 51 hit a 48 yarder yesterday in a two minute drill. Sounds excited about Cade.

Asked about him bringing up Damone Clark three times in one interview and his apparent excitement over the player. Jacob Phillips and Patrick Queen are excellent players but this guy here is a big physical knock-em-back LB. Can take on blocks, can run, a 3-4 guy, probably the most athletic LB on the team. Compares him to Eric Hill, not as big, but definitely that type of player.

Bobby brings up Odell & Jarvis and asks about Ja'Marr Chase. He's big physical, has strong hands. Joe Brady, Mickey and Ensminger love him. Justin Jefferson has looked very good also. Then talks about Kentwood's Trey Palmer looking great and catching a TD pass yesterday in his FIRST PRACTICE.

On RB's: You got two stud guys. Saw Emery play at Destrehan. Tyrion reminds him of LenDale White. Eaux: Yes, no question. Talks about a pass Emery caught. Said if he was covering him he would have two broken ankles. He has such a great change of direction. Tyrion likes to come at you. Gets that 4 or 5 yards THEN bounces it outside.

Bobby talks about Magic Mike on the Saints team? They talk for a while about players I have never heard of from their past.

Eaux on Stingley: OH MY GOD!!! He is an excellent offensive player but will start out exclusively on defense. After a couple years after he settles in at corner he is a guy that can play both ways for us. get him the ball on some speed sweeps, let him run some routes, maybe give him the ball in the wildcat situation. retuned a punt against the #1 team in scrimmage. We need some juice back there, we need a boost and he is going to give us one.

Do you do anything but whine?

Appreciate the info, Ree. I didn't think I could be more excited about Stingley. But then I read this. Damn

Anytime a player is discussed as playing both ways, immediately lets you know hes 'special'.

The whole, “but I was told” or “the rant told me” shite needs to die.

When O’s first words are “omg” that’s a good sign.

Yeah, I don't know if Eaux was just having a really good day or not. But he seemed really excited talking about some of the new guys.

Especially Cade York, Damone Clark and Derek Stingley.

On Clark:
"Jacob Phillips and Patrick Queen are excellent players but this guy here is a big physical knock-em-back LB, probably the most athletic LB on the team."

The other thing I found interesting his statement about the left guard spot being open then immediately said "If Chasen wins it he is a BIG physical guy who can get the job done". May be some foreshadowing here.
