So who all has read Feast for Crows/Dance with Dragons - Boiled Leather order?

I kind of wish I had read it this way for my first time, but I'm hoping that it's been long enough since I did a re-read that I'll be able to see a difference.

First time I read the series, I read Feast first and Dance second.

On my reread, I did the Boiled Leather version. The Boiled Leather version was superior.

I'm reading the series for the first time right now (finishing up ACOK now). Would you recommend the boiled leather version for a first time reader or should I stick to the original?

I've only read it that way. Just contemplating having to keep track of who was doing what would have been maddening. If they were novella length or even "normal" novels, that would be one thing, but it takes me weeks to get through these things.

The Boiled Leather order is generally pretty good and there are some options to keep a handful of spoilers (which doesn't apply if you're doing it on a reread).

I'm in the middle of my first complete reread. I've read AGoT probably 3 or 4 times now, ACoK 3 times, and ASoS 2.5 times, but never have gotten to the point where rereading Feast and Dance was appealing.

I finally decided to do one complete reread of all 5 books using Audible on my drive to and from work (usually 30-40 minutes so I can get in a chapter each way). Now that the show is over, I've had an intense desire to read Feast and Dance and revisit the middle part of the complete story in the way it was intended to be told. Also, if the Pizza Boy finally decides to release the next book in the next few years, it will be nice to have this refresher out of the way.

I finished ASoS recently and decided to do boiled leather for Feast and Dance. I am only through both prologues and the first 2 chapters of Feast and I can already tell that this was a great idea. You immediately go from Cersei's perspective (in Feast) following the Tywin murder to Tyrion's perspective (in Dance) as he is on his way to Essos.

My only regret is that there isn't one Audible file set up in this manner (unless there is one that I don't know about). It's a mild pain to go between books but ultimately well worth the slight inconvenience.
