Talos in Mexico as well with Zama. Granted not near the size of the XOM find.

Over the next 3-5 yrs we will see a slow death of smaller independent producers and service companies.

Not necessarily. Some of them will move to other areas. West TX is a great place to be. We’re killing it out there and have been for years. But we’re also doing extremely well in Shreveport and Ohio. As new areas of activity pop up, independents will be the ones developing them and servicing them. This isn’t the death of smaller independent producers/service providers everywhere. Just a realignment in the Permian.

They bought xto the first time because they were too slow and stifling to make money, how is it going to work this time?

This was thier gameplan all along. Let the independents do all the leg work and find the sweet spots. Run themselves broke trying to keep their stock prices up then the majors will sweep them up on the cheap.

——This has always been the Exxon way, going back to Rockefeller buying out independent producers for pennies on the dollar, over 100 years ago.
So you’re right, not a surprise

Zane Tankel, made money in Applebee's, now serves on Aly Energy Services board (surface equipment, solids control) was on Fox w/Varney this a.m. Basically said that the worldwide recession means the oil glut will not be absorbed for a year.

That kind of gloom has got to signal a turn around of some kind...

If I was deep pockets majors, I'd be rubbing my hands with glee if his attitude is the prevailing one among indy oil investors.

Boomtown is a 10-part podcast about the Permian by Texas Monthly. The narrator is a local who worked in the patch in college.

It's pretty interesting. Covers markets, history, directional drilling, and even regular folks who work in cafes and driver trucks and such in the region.

They're up to part 5 now, with 5 and 6 called Boob-town, about strippers and sex workers.
