IIRC, Myles Brennan had an injury that would have prevented him from playing (or at least, playing effectively) in the Bama game had Burrow gotten injured. It wasn't disclosed at the time, but was revealed at the end of the season when he had not played even though playing him in last 4 games would not have burned his redshirt.

If that is correct, we probably had to game plan around that.
you know what, I hear people saying that now, but I don't buy it, not as the reason we didn't open the offense up against Bama at least.

You play to win. You don't make the playoffs without Burrow, you don't make the playoffs anyway if you lose to Alabama. You don't "protect" anyone in the biggest game of the year.

Not likely to beat them this year either, but there is always hope.

It's my opinion that LSU has a better shot at winning a road game in this series, than a home game. That's the way it has always been, and there are numerous psychological factors that play into it.
We did better in 2017 than we did in 16 and 18.

which was the point of my post regarding the Alabama game. That same team and staff looked like Bill Walsh vs Georgia.

That game plan made sense in 2016. Not last year.

I like Burrow, but he has a little too much "big talk" for my taste.

Believe it or not, I do believe Bama plays “up” for LSU....and not to mention, they have an extra week (& extra nerds on staff) to scheme LSU....they know what check downs J Burrow usually looks to when he is pressured....

Coach O is compensating for the lack of nerds on staff....and I speak of nerds in the best of all possible light (because I am one too).....

Oh and FYI, Clemson out nerded Bama....the number one thing they discovered was Tua’s tendency to check down to a long bomb to Juedy if he feels a blitz coming from the edge....he also likes the short crossing route and of course the quick slant....

Oh and if you look at J Borrows 2nd half of the season (all passes) link, the first game is Bama....

All of those types of passes that everyone ask for....the quick slants, the rb screens, the crossing routes, quick strikes to the middle were tried in the game....watch the link for all the evidence you need....

If more passes were caught and more importantly if J Burrow would have been under less pressure, those types of plays when have worked....

Bama keeps all their LB’s close to the line of scrimmage (at least against LSU) and begged Burrow to beat them long....and J Borrow could not do it consistently...in my opinion, I think more often than not Bama pass interferes and it never gets called....

The Long vertical route to Jefferson...the Bama DB held Jefferson just long enough to disrupt the timing.....in tight coverage, this shite didn’t work against Clemson because their WR was much stronger....

I really hope our big WR’s watched the Clemson game and realized that more time in the weight room is needed if they want to beat Bama....because the refs won’t call it.....

Oh and the point I was trying to make about Tua’s check down to Juedy when he feels an outside blitz coming: Clemson realized that Tua just slings as far as he can and Juedy is fast enough to slide right under it for a long TD.....he really doesn’t read the coverage....it looked like man to man.....so he slings it..Clemson took a chance by having their DB abandon the guy in the flat (a big risk)....& run as fast as he could so he can be on top of Juedy...INT

You are trying to do something that is impossible - convincing a hater of something about LSU. He will come up with all kinds of shite to make you feel miserable about the team.

So pointing out inconsistencies in how blame is allocated between players vs coaches from the last regime to this one is yet another sign of a “hater”.

Seems to me that a “hater” with preconceived bias, one that isn’t focused on LSU but something or someone else, would be the ones blaming the players and supporting the coach that says publicly we need “better players” on the line.

Seems like those people are more “miserable about the team” than those of us that think we have great players that can play with anybody when the coaches are capable of putting them in position to do so.

Especially when almost those same players on the line were a big part of putting up over 100 more yards, not to mention actual points, the year before on the road when an actual creative offensive approach was used as opposed to what we saw on display in Tiger Stadium last year.

But ya know, “haters” gonna hate.

And shillers gonna shill

We moved the ball more often but would get blown up when we got near the 25-30 yard line it seemed. For a lot of reasons not limited to just the Oline but they were terrible

Yeah I agree...it was a combination of things....soft oline play, wrs that can’t get open quick and can’t block for rbs or other wrs (strength issues), and no rbs fast enough to get to the edge....

And those LBs that sneak through the OL on a Rb sweep to the edge...why does this happen to LSU time and time again....LB gets by the big guys and tackles the RB for a loss...

That’s so frustrating to watch...

LSU has held for a long time that Bama is susceptible to the long verticle routes but you have to have something to set it up. Bama used to have nightmares about Reuben Randle.

I have been under the impression that Bama has Tua just throw to a spot and his guys make it there and catch it. When the play gets defended or he gets chased from the pocket his success rate goes way down.

We weren't beating them with musical chairs at OL, Ingram out and Brumfield dinged up. That was apparent in watching the replays. Can't block Bama's DL and it gets ugly all the way around.

Besides OL, no threat in the red zone from our WRs or TEs. A team better have dependable tall WRs and a difference maker at TE to battle Bama's D in the red zone.

Not as much when there is a mismatch in strengths vs weaknesses and they have knowledge of what plays we are going to run (you read what you want into that). Coaching could have been better, of course anytime in a loss that can be said. However, more so to do with the player match ups and mis matches on the field.

This should not be hard to comprehend. But then again I am writing to you so it is like...
