Help settle debateCo worker states that Archie Told LSU that Peyton wanted to come to LSU to start his own legacy (obviously did that at tenn). But that LSU told him they rather josh booty. I’ve always been under impression that no way in hell any Manning was going to LSU considering we were probably ole piss biggest rivalry at the time Archie played. Edit: I mean Archie “went to LSU” as in a negotiation type of role.

You and your co-worker are idiots. Booty and Manning didn't even compete for the same scholarships. Booty signed in the 1st round of baseball out of highschool and was never going to college until he failed with the Marlins so a few years later, he returned some signing bonus to the Marlins and decided to come here. Booty, Craig Nall, and Rohan DAvey were all in the same class.

The Marlins let Josh Booty go w/o having to return any signing bonus.

Yes, the saga of the Booty baseball career has apparently (and mercifully) ended. The Marlins finally agreed to let Booty retire and get on with pursuing his football dream without returning his $1.6 million baseball signing bonus.

No Manning was ever or will ever come to LSU! End of story! And if anyone really knows Peyton he can be a real tool!

Thank you for the correction. In your article you'll see it dated 1999, quite a few years after Peyton was looking to "lose" his scholly offer to Josh..

Booty did sign in the same 94 class as Manning, was drafted that Summer and never enrolled.

He first attempted to come back in the Spring of 97 at the same time Abram enrolled, but the Marlins denied him. He actually attended some classes before he was forced to go to Spring training, which started his eligibility clock. That’s why he was considered a sophomore when he did finally join the team in 99.

I stand corrected, but for the purpose of this argument Booty was not ever in anyway the reason Manning didn't look at us.
