re: LSU Softball Commitment List/Recruiting Info
That's going to be one heck of a battle for all the infield positions. May come down to who puts in the most work in the batting cages this summer.

I think Kennedy Johnson from A&M CC is going to UL Monroe.

Are there any Mississippi State players/recruits that could come into play with Van being let go?

re: LSU Softball Commitment List/Recruiting Info
Talked to her and she will make an official announcement one day soon. Until then...

ETA.. she just posted that she's going to ULM this morning. She told me that she was so surprised that I heard about it and also wanted to tell me herself first. I told her no worries and that I'm always proud of her just I like am all of my former players. Hope she can continue her success from her freshman season at a place much better than TAMU-CC.

re: LSU Softball Commitment List/Recruiting Info
Couple notes from today. 2020 commit Presleigh Pilon and 2019 signee Raeleen Gutierrez won the PGF national title today. Pilon went 1-2 w/ a double and moved a runner over to scoring position for the game winning run.

Ciara Briggs and Gutierrez both played in the PGF All American game. Briggs played extremely well, went 2-3 w/ a run. Gutierrez went 1-2 with 2 RBI's.

Briggs should be a mainstay early, she is good.

Pleasants opted out of the all American game as she is focused on Junior National team which is about to compete in the world Cup in the coming weeks before coming to LSU.

Incoming recruits have looked great this summer. Intrigued on how many of those true freshmen torina will want to use early. Briggs and Pleasants are obviously are two top recruits and should have the chance to win position to start immediately. Calland obviously will see significant time early as catcher is wide open. If they move Doyle over to 3B that will leave Clark and Gutierrez to battle it out at 1B but it depends a lot on how Perkins is doing at 3B.

re: LSU Softball Commitment List/Recruiting Info
No problem, I try to when I can or have some kind of info. So in terms of the recruiting front. That 2020 class is essentially completely done and is just waiting for NSD this November, its a unanimous top 3 class. 8 kids who are all nationally rated kids, fills all needs in the infield, outfield and at catcher. Morgan Smith is considered a pitcher/hitter much like Sunseri who can do it both, highly recruited kid with a lot of power. So they are counting on her to continue to develop in the circle, she did well for her HS team in Arizona this past year (sub .90 ERA).

I notice the coaches are already scouting for the future kids 2021, 2022, and 2023. Now starting this fall LSU will be able to contact the 2021 kids. On that front there are some developments. LSU is in the mix for the #1 pitcher prospect of the 2021 class Lexie Delbrey. We already have Raelin Chaffin committed (another nationally ranked pitcher) but we are going all in on Lexie. LSU is also interested in a kid who recently decommitted from Nebraska Jordyn Bahl, who is currently a top 20 prospect for the 2021 class. She has blown up on the recruiting trail and had a big summer. A lot of assistants and HC's followed her around all summer.

Jordyn Bahl story

Great news on Neb player and top pitcher: Our new facility and this competent staff is getting it done.

Our last two losses in Super Regionals will be reversed next year.

re: LSU Softball Commitment List/Recruiting Info
I know the schedule doesn’t come out until November, but have y’all heard of any rumors of who we might be playing this upcoming year? I got the SEC schedule because it’s pretty easy to figure out

Home:
Tennessee
Mizzou
Georgia
Miss State

Away:
Alabama
Auburn
Ole Miss
South Carolina

A couple years ago we finished a home and away series with oklahoma, and then followed it with a home series again Washington. However, we have yet to go to Washington these past three years. Is 2020 the year we go up to Seattle and play them? And since we’re not going to the SPC invitational I assumed that we’re going back to the MNC. But as of right now we aren’t not listed as a team that’s going. So I’m interested to see who we are playing next year.

That would be an extremely doable schedule with obviously Alabama being the big series that will likely be difficult to pull off in Tuscaloosa. Alabama IMO would have to really screw up to not win the SEC next year with what they return and add. Honestly the rest of the SEC is wide open except for those few teams that we expect at the bottom.

As far as OOC schedule I expect it to be challenging. Torina always schedules a tough OOC schedule every single year, and I expect this year to be no different. Looking forward to seeing how the kids look this fall. Coaches seem to feel really good about this coming years team despite a lot of losses at the plate. Hoping the pitchers make big jumps.

I have a question concerning coaching for this upcoming season. Will Dobson have to miss the year due to his work with Team USA and prep for the Olympics?

re: LSU Softball Commitment List/Recruiting Info
I don't think so, no more than current NCAA players missing season for Olympics, some games maybe. But I really do not know what happens when a college coach is the Olympic Coach or assistant. It would be some sort of distraction.

Can't find any reports on the indoor practice field construction. Wonder if it has been scrapped?

re: LSU Softball Commitment List/Recruiting Info
I never figured out why Baylie Thornhill was never utilized. She looked pretty good in Fall ball. I get that she was a walk on, but she burnt a whole year of eligilibity without throwing a single pitch in a game. I guess that's why she left for Ohio. I would have liked to have seen her play to see what she did or didn't have.
