I'm as big of an old school, turn based homer as anyone, but I really like what I've seen with the new combat. Did FFXV have an ATB bar?

. Everyone likes to make it seem like the multiple disc for 7-9 was because they were these massive games. It was not. It was because of how much space the FMVs took on the CD.

Thank You. I've played the majority of major FF games and I must say that the overall length of FF games from the PS1 era is similar to other RPGs of it's time.

It wasnt that bad. I admit that sometimes it was too busy on screen, but that's not uncommon for RPGs with no turn based system.

I was more afraid it would be too similar to Kingdom Hearts with multiple prompts in every battle.

Producer Yoshinori Kitase talks FF7 Remake

Essentially information we already know. Midgar being the first game, they have their “internal release schedule”, ATB hybrid, etc

Me too, a lot actually. I was on this board defending it left and right when it was getting shite all over at release. And it's a much better game now than it was then.

I'm planning a second playthrough pretty soon, I'm going to run through it again before I get to FF7:R.

The only thing, and I mean the only thing that I wasn't happy with, they just out Episode Aryden, and didn't include it in the season pass I got in the deluxe edition at launch.

I'm also bummed out they didn't finish the other planned DLC (Luna, Aranena, Noctis)

As did I.

Especially after update added the endgame dungeon in Insomnia. Omega fight was epic if you didn't break the battle with the Prompto glitch.

The primary antagonist failed to evoke the hatred that we had for Sephiroth but that will probably never be reproduced. So I set the bar at Sin from FFX, feeling both anger and sympathy towards the antagonist.

I'm on my third playthrough right now after taking a year away from the game and loving it. Caught all fish, collected all "recipeh's", earned platinum trophy on first playthrough but still undertaking quests and hunts that I somehow missed the first two times around.

I'm pretty picky about wanting games to really make me feel like I'm a part of the world, and to me FFXV is second only to Witcher 3 in actually making me feel like my decisions, or lack thereof, made a difference.

FFXV isn't for everyone, and I didn't think I'd like it after 4 hours of gameplay, but I kept going and eventually loved it.

Sounds like I need to play again. I preordered and beat it as soon as it came out then never touched it again.

I thought the story was better than it was given credit for, I'm just not huge fan of the combat.

Takes a while but level up to at least 85 or 90 for the Omega fight. Cap is 120 and I'd personally suggest maxing out but it could probably be done around 90. Stock full stacks of elixirs and megalixirs and some mega phoenixes as well. And most importantly, have every character equip a ribbon accessory, as it will blast you frequently with an attack that inflicts every status ailment in the game. It will frequently one-shot 1-3 party members and it's fast and attacks relentlessly.

It has three forms that are cyclical; normal, shielded and berserk. Only royal arms and high level spells affect it in normal mode. Nothing hurts it in shielded mode. I won't spoil too much of the rest because it's fun figuring it out. Expect to game over a few times if you go in blind.

I beat it once just to say I did. I have absolutely no desire to do it again

I have much more fun just exploring, and replaying hunts and finding new quests that got overlooked. I've caught myself driving around to different spots and fishing for hours at a time, especially after they added fishing from the royal vessel, and the Bismarck encounter that only happens on the open sea, and leads to catching the tuna that drops the game's best recipeh ingredient.

Just checked and have 360 hours game time on 3 playthroughs and still finding new things to do occasionally, so the content is definitely not lacking.

I'll never be able to enjoy this game knowing that Square Enix will never finish it.

I'm debating on waiting until the entire series is released or not. I don't want to play the Midgar game and then for some reason that be it. That would suck.

Is ti going to take years to make the rest of them as well? Is this damn game going to take 15 years to complete?

@jasonschreier Just asked Yoshinori Kitase how many games are going to be in the Final Fantasy VII remake - he said he can't say yet "because we don't know ourselves."
Maybe they aren't sure yet because they're considering a Crisis Core remake too?

Nearing the end of the 9 remaster. What a great journey it’s been. I had played it when I was younger but never finished it and decided to dive back into it a few months ago and it was worth it. It’s beautifully paced. Just finally finished the chocobo forest side quest which was a pain in the arse but worth it. Did some level grinding to the 50s now it’s time to make the final push through Ipsens Castle and the endgame. Thinking about giving 12 another shot next, never finished that one either back in when it first came out

I started IX and got sidetracked for some reason. I need to pick it up again.

I had just escaped the farm or whatever and fought the giant Vivi on the airship, then made it to the city that starts with L

This is about my 4th time starting it. I did the same thing all the other times, got side tracked and never went back to it. Determined to finish it this time. Definitely have a much deeper appreciation for it now that I’ve gotten to the end. I used to always think this one was more “kiddy” because of the characters but it actually explores some darker themes, like the inevitability of death. I had beaten 13 before starting 9 and 13 is a much more fast paced game. 9 was lulling me to sleep for the first 3rd of it before I really got into it

I'm about half way through 9. Then I think I'll go to 12.

I believe they said the first part of 7 remake is the length of a normal final fantasy game.

I'm 25 hours into X. Waiting for Steam to do a sale on XII, as I'd like to retry that one. Been on the wish list for a while now. Never played 9.

Best one there is. I probably say that too much here.
Only real flaw is how long the battle actions can take.
And if you just hate the art direction. Best way to play it is on PC with the HD background mods though. Or on the original. I am not a fan of the PS4/mobile version.
