I’m going on vacation in 2 weeks and was thinking about getting a “hell week” in so I can earn my vacation. Any good stories or ideas that y’all have personally done or heard somebody do?

Why not just have some self-control while on vacation? Putting yourself through a “hell week” won’t do anything for you except needlessly exhaust yourself.

Just maybe add some extra conditioning to your program or something.

I don’t intend to go buck wild on vacation. I’m not a drinker and I don’t care about taking in crap nutrition. I just don’t do it. The idea behind the “hell week” is like an extended challenge. It might look like extra cardio everyday or extra sets of my main lifts. Basically added volume for a short period. I did some fairly stupid stuf when I was younger but nobody died.

10000 kb swings in 10 days
10000 pushups in 10 days
2500 Chins in 10 days

All the above are good starts, the 10k kb swings has been completed many times. Do a search.

When I was in the army, had an instructor at a specialty course who had us do the following split over 10 days

10000 pushups
100 miles
15,000 situps
1000 chins

It was not done all at once. We had pt at morning/noon/night

Also after each meal we had to do 100 pushups, 200 situps, 50 chins and run a mile. Had 30 min to get it done, so not a crazy pace. We had a track right there so we would do a set of pushups, situps, chins then run a lap. Repeat 4 times.

I was sore as frick after the ten days to say the least, but after 3-4 day break I was good. I was used to running mostly 6-8 miles at an 8 min pace 3-4 times a week so the running didnt bother me.

I was envisioning a 100 mile bike ride or running a marathon for fun or maybe going on like a 3 day dry fast.

frick no, don't do this. You could die. Water fast....fine but unless you are used to going 24 hours plus dry do not do it. 24 hours is hard enough, way way way harder than a water fast

Yeah, I used to cut extreme amounts of weight for wrestling, then MMA, fightin then BJJ. But you’re right: my first dry fast was around 12 hours, then 24, then 36, 48, etc. Only did 3 days a few times, but I did do a shite ton of cardio over those 3 days to further de-hydrate myself.

I workout hard and control my diet 49 weeks a year so for 3 weeks through out the year I can drink and eat like a king

Even then I’m on vacation now for two weeks at the beach and I’m still working out

2 weeks no working out and letting my diet go is about the limit when I see my strength and conditioning get significantly effected

At least running a few times a week while on vacation can help maintain

Yea if it's a beach vacation and we are driving I am bringing a kb with me to at least get it and bodyweight work in with running. I get bored super super easy so if kids are napping from getting worn out from the beach and wife is too.....well I am not going to sit and not do shite. It is very very hard for me to just sit and watch TV and it's not at night.

I’m leaving for a beach trip Wednesday night. I lifted yesterday morning, this morning and will lift again tomorrow morning. I’m thinking about bringing my plate carrier with me and go for a stroll early in the a.m. at the beach while I’m there. Probably run, too.
