Turkey is a bird we eat at Thanksgiving... Not a middle east ally. Oh, Erdogan announced they are converting the Hagia Sophia back from a museum into a Mosque. Ataturk is dead.

I disagree with your first point on country 2 (Israel). Israel is one of our main providers of information on countries in the Middle East. They were heavily involved (although not directly) in the wars we have waged in the gulf region.

You forgot....

Country two:
Actively spies on the United States and uses stolen US intelligence to carry out military action against third parties

It’s believed the only country in history to more heavily infiltrate the US and our intelligence system was the USSR.

We don’t have a staunch ally in the ME.

I’m convinced the anti-Israeli sentiment on this forum stems from the fact that so many of guys did not get accepted to Tulane (jewlane)

You think “they” stole your spot.

I’m a non-believer, so I don’t really give a damn about our “Judeo-Christian” ties, but I do think Israel is an important ally for the following reasons:

1. Their intelligence capabilities are insanely good, and they give us critical eyes and ears in the region.
2. They are willing and highly capable of performing the types of assasinations and dirty work that we can’t be tied to in many cases.
3. They act as a focal point for Muslim hatred in the region, preventing it from being focused solely on us.

With that being said, I do think the Israelis take advantage of our generosity and close ties. We probably don’t get nearly the value we should be getting for the amount of assistance we provide.

According to the World Atlas, Turkey is 95% in Asia and 5% in Europe, only SOMETIMES considered in the Middle East.

Turkey has about 5% in the West (the European side of Istanbul)

Turkey is in the Orient; Europe and ourselves are in the Occident.

Things were defined so much easier back when...Turkey is Near East, then you have Middle East and keep going you have Far East as all part of Asia.

Never heard of “jewlane” until right now. Also you sound like a leftist with the racist identity politics. GFY
