But did you guys see the video of Zion laughing when we got 1? What do you guys make of it?

Source: Barring the unexpected, Memphis Grizzlies front office and ownership appear to have locked in on selecting Ja Morant with the No. 2 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, and are informing parties in Chicago of such. That clears the way for R.J. Barrett to fall to the Knicks at #3.

If Silver allows Zion to force his way out of New Orleans, then what is the point of the draft lottery? The whole system becomes pointless if players dictate where they want to go. There would be no way for small market teams to grow organically through the draft.

I’ve also read the comparison to Eli and Elway, it’s another completely pointless one. The NBA is not the NFL. One player can turn a lottery team into a playoff team. The player also can’t hide behind a face mask, especially someone like Zion. Additionally, it would be a rough way to start out your career from a marketability standpoint. A move like that will generate a lot of hate. Again, this is something that would be a problem for Zion and not a football player. How many sneaker ads have you seen Eli Manning in?

Shams just tweeted:

Sources: Zion Williamson met in Chicago with the New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies, the top two teams in the Draft lottery. Williamson had a positive meeting with New Orleans and prior to lottery, he cited Pelicans as a targeted team to start career.

Sticky threads need bumps?

I see some YT breakdowns and some written pieces( none of which I will share) citing RJ Barrett might be a better use of the #1 than Zion.

Biggest factor being the nature that Zion plays being violent on the body( Think D. Rose) and that Barrett is more polished overall and has a less likely chance of being injured(LOL really)

That was literally the only difference this person cited. I guess I can see the argument but, Canadians are weak and Zion has to have about as high a ceiling as anyone maybe ever?

Worst contract ever.

He stinks.

I didn't see him before injury. (I must have but don't remember).

He stinks.

I think this might have been the most hype I've been after a sports-related event, championship games included. I think it was just how unexpected it was, coupled with how shitty last season was and how hopeless things seemed a few months before.
