A parade in New Orleans at any time of the year is miserable. But in July it just takes misery to another level.

So is this something the regular krewe members are expected to do or is this some BS they're offering to people on the wait list, if they have one?

This has to be some small, condensed version. It takes the whole year to plan a parade during Mardi Gras. I can’t imagine how hot the costumes will be people are going to overheat.

It’s ridiculous.

This was my thought as well. Their krewe was getting absurdly large. I wonder if they will break off 1500 members for a sub krewe or expect their normal members to ride twice? Double dues? Double throws? New floats?

I can’t imagine organizing it for a March Mardi Gras then reset and doing it again 4 months later with fresh ideas.

ETA: What schools are going to march on summer vacation?

None of them hopefully. I think it would be dangerous for them given the heat. But, I also don’t know how long this weird route would be.

There is no way it's going to have marching bands.... that would be a death sentence

This.

Once July gets here, the only outdoor activity that I do in Nola is drinking on patios, etc at the bars.

and even that's miserable. I occasionally have people that think it'll be awesome to go to bacchanal in the middle of July... last time I agreed to that I sweat through my shirt in about 20 minutes

Just heard parades in Nola outside of Mardi Gras can have corporate sponsors. Guess their ugly arse captain needs a face lift? Heard she already had lipo and a boob job.

Nyx has to be the trashiest krewe in Nola

what Nola needed was a parade in July

In the article they mention it as a boost to tourism. Why would people come to a single parade in the summer?

The best thing about it is of all of the krewes something like this only seems like it would come from Nyx.

Maybe Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny can ride in the parade, and they can have leprechauns on horseback to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
