Cape Cod recommendations...

Going to Boston in 2 weeks and Wife wants to go to Cape Cod.

How far are you looking to go on Cape Cod?
Easy enough would be Falmouth/Woods Hole and consider taking the ferry to Martha's Vineyard. You can spend the majority of a day on MV or spend the night there.

Where on the Cape? My family has a place in Truro, so I'm better with Outer Cape recommendations. Depending on time of day, this may be best when coming from Boston. Easy to hop the ferry to Provincetown.

Spent a week on the Cape last summer. Well it was our summer and not quite there summer. Kids were still in school and it was still chilly in early June. Waters cold so I wouldn’t plan on swimming in it if your from the south.
Need some specific questions though. It’s a rather large place.

Where in the cape? For multiple days or what? Keep in mind it’s still pretty cold here and likely will still be in two weeks so you’re not going to get to spend time on the beach without a jacket.
You could do a day trip to Provincetown. 90 minute ferry leaves out of downtown Boston. Just make sure you sit inside and not outside or you will be extremely cold.

To be honest, early May is still going to be cold and isn’t the best time to go to the Cape. There are tons of other places that are also much closer that would be worth going to over Cape Cod for a day or two.

The Cape is several small towns that dot the entire Cape.
Provincetown is on the tip and you can access via ferry from Boston.
I would say it's about a 45 minute drive from one end of Cape to the other.
We stayed a couple nights in Hyannis, you can get pretty close to the Kennedy compound.
Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard can be accessed by boat as well. Keep in mind, getting there and back takes time and limits your overall experience. We did a passenger ferry to MV but we did not have transportation when we got there.
I would agree with the expert Abita - there are much better day trips from Boston that I would choose over going to the Cape. Coastal Maine is only about an hour away and before that is places like Rockport and other Boston area coastal towns.

The Cape is a seasonal place. Really doesn’t start getting packed and rolling until after Memorial Day and even later. Plenty of beautiful homes and lighthouses to drive and see. The Cape Cod National Seashore is pretty cool as well. I biked a 24 mile trip through Cape Cod last June. It was a beautiful day, perfect riding weather. They have an asphalt bike trail that covers most of the Cape. Not a ton to do other than whats already been mentioned.

The Lobster Claw is a good restaurant albeit a bit tourist trap but I go there each time I go to Cape Cod
Look for hole in the wall places that sell fried clams, those places are really good to eat
Provincetown has a lot of LGBT and drag queens there, openly flamboyant ones, may not be appropriate for kids, but is the best place to go whale watching
Nauset Beach is the best beach.
Don't go to Nantucket/Martha's Vineyard, not worth it
