The star was great some years back. We stayed at the Olea hotel which was also an awesome experience. They have expanded a lot recently.

Just went to Salt and Stone 2 weeks ago. Excellent. Just up the road 2 miles in Kenwood right on HW-12.

I was there a few weeks ago, and every single person we asked directed us to Cafe Citti. It’s an Italian restaurant where the food is upscale quality but the atmosphere is very casual.

Cafe Citti.

Super good. Accurate description from LL. Technically in Kenwood, but it’s just up the road from Glen Ellen.
Food is great. Very casual atmosphere. A few Russian river beers on tap. No corkage fee for local bottles of wine. Been both times we’ve been to Sonoma. Me and the wife ordered (both times):
Caesar salad to split
Fried polenta to split
Ravioli alla Citti to split
Dessert

Would go back in a heartbeat.

Yep. I've been and I agree. The OP asked about dinner, but there is a place called VJB Cellars a block or 2 away from Cafe Citti that is a great lunch spot. Great wood-fired pizza in a great setting.

I agree. When you're hopping around wine tasting, the lively outdoor seating keeps you in the spirit too. I could see a darker indoor place making me want a nap.

Yes, dining and drinking in that piazza area is a great experience.
