Honestly this is what you do of course you have to have a partner.

Study who has what available as picks. Is there a team with 2 3rd round picks or a high 3rd and a high 4th.

The draft is supposed to be stacked. So you use your draft board and place high 2nd round grades on a few guys. If they fall to your pick which I believe is #62 then you draft them.

I would target guys that I had in the top 45. If that guy is not there then look to trade back.

this was along the lines i was thinking they would go but after our pick in the 2nd, are their 2 6th and 2 7th round picks valued enough to maybe trade all 4 of those to get a 4th and 5th pick or maybe just trade those 4 late picks for 2 5ths?

granted you need another team to trade with you but lets assume you can find a willing trade partner, what is the realistic trade value of our last 4 picks in 6th and 7th rounds?

what can they realistically do?

Well we used a 3rd for a backup QB who was drafted in the first rnd.
We used a 1st to hopefully get our DE of the future.
We used FA's to fill our rosters holes.
So I believe the consensus around the planet is that the Saints will go BPA on their picks.

If the saints can move up to the end of the first for Jonathan Simmons they should absolutely do it.

I don't think its a question of if for the Saints to move up any where in the draft just a question of cost.

Nothing would surprise me that the Saints may try on draft day. Being what I believe to be Drews last year who knows. The team may believe they are stacked for next year so why further mortgage the future. Or they see a player who they think can contribute this year and beyond and pay whatever price need be to get him. But my gut tells me it will be a BPA draft with little movement. Which means I'm probably dead wrong

Saints roster projection for starters and backups only has like 8 people let to fill. I would think more we would be very aggressive after the draft.

Oops, left to fill

Trade for Rosen, take year off draft

I agree with part of this. Trade for Rosen yes, but you still have some later rounds picks to make for depth.

Loomis & staff have been pretty successful in late rounds. May not be as “thin” as you think.
