CCOS is a good course. There’s better, but you’ll have a good time. Beautiful homes. You must have connections if you’re getting off on there.

Have you looked at Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, SC? Was designed by Alister Makensie at the same time as Augusta National and is said to play similarly to what Augusta probably did before a lot of the renovations.

I second Palmetto. It’s by far my favorite track in the area. I’m not sure, but they use to get booked for the week fairly early so you may or may not have any luck getting a reservation. If you can it’s absolutely worth it.

Aiken Golf Club is another old track, built in 1912. Short course with very undulating greens. A lot of fun to play.

The River Club in North Augusta is also a great choice. It’s about 10-15 minutes from the National but they, like Palmetto, use to get booked early. I don’t know if that still applies like it did 10-15 years ago.

CCOS is ok. Can get really sloppy if it rains close to when you play. White Columns is a better course. Fun holes and a good layout, but the right can be brutal. Sounds like you’re a clubcorp guy. I would swap out CCOS for The Manor if you can. Much better course.

I don't know about those but I would second the opinion of the person who mentioned The River course in N Augusta. I have played there a couple times and it is a nice course with greens that are pretty fast and in good condition.

Mt Vintage golf course in Edgefield county, probably about 30 minutes or so from Augusta, used to be pretty nice but it seems like I heard awhile back they were having some problems. Not sure where that stands now

If you are looking for a fun course to play in Augusta try Forest Hills. They do a Masters Special that includes lunch and range and special replay rate. Beautiful Donald Ross golf course that is home to Augusta University.

Mt. Vintage has had difficulty with ownership the last several years. I don’t know what their status is now whether they’re owned by the bank or by the community. The original 18 is a great layout.

Forest Hills is a good layout as well. Honestly, I don’t think there’s a Donald Ross course that I’ve played I didn’t enjoy. It’s in very good shape as of 2 weeks ago.

If you're looking for a goat ranch, my old stomping grounds can be found on the first exit as you cross into GA. You'll find a small town called Tallapoosa with Tally Mountain golf course. Holes 1-3 wind up the mountain and #4 is a Par 5 straight back down. A well hit drive will leave you a short iron into the green for your approach
