I'm not too familiar with the term ''dead money'' regarding the restructuring of Brees' contract but how are the Saints looking in Cap space for in the 2020 season?

Too early to project IMO but Sportrac.com has us with the third most cap space in 2020 with 98.7 million...
I’m not sure if it’s updated yet though. And we will have to start signing players from the Kamara rookie class. And Thomas...

Deuce Windham said on Twitter that next year we won't have to work a ton of magic we just have to decide who to extend. Plenty of room.

Think of Dead Money like your home mortgage.
YOU SIGNED A DEAL with a player for 10 million and gave him 2 million down. NOW you still owe 8 million for the next 4 years and you agree to pay 1 million a year leaving you a final payment of 4 million due on the final bill.
You can restructure or if you end the contract or say sell the house the bank gets the 1st 4 million.

That’s about the clumsiest dead money explanation I’ve ever read.

quote:Looks like plenty of room. However, once all the new contracts hit the cap, will likely drop from about $90 million in space to about $65-$75 million in space. Sounds like a lot, but we would have no QB under contract and MT will need to be extended. That will take a nice chunk of the space. Others like Unger, Bell, Apple, Rankins, Peat, and Onyemata will need to be extended as well.
