He was borderline elite in 2017 before going down. He plays both the run and the pass.

40-45 tackles, 6.5-8 sacks, and 8-12 QB hits are about what he can give you starting all 16 games at DE and that commands a high value in the current market.

Not to mention they're switching to a 4-3, so they need ends

It says "up to" so there may be some incentives in the deal.

If he didn't tear his achilles he would have gotten more than this last offseason. Go look at the film, the stat sheet and the PFF grade then get back to me.

He wasn’t borderline elite lol. The guy is a shell of himself and always hurt. The chiefs did the saints a huge favor. Thanks Veach. Granted hes better than who would be starting there for the chiefs. This is a huge overpay though.

Also saying if he didn’t tear his Achilles is an irrelevant statement because he did tear it. Achilles injuries tend to hurt most athletes careers

This really hurts. Okafor was very underrated. He did everything well and was very versatile plus he was a great teammate. He’s going to be missed. 3 years $18 million with the possibility to make it $24 is good money and I’m happy for him. I would have rather we used the Brown money on Okafor but now Davenport has to step up and be the everydown DE we drafted him to be.

Honestly, we need more help at DT than at DE (although we need another body at DT and DE IMHO).

Okafor was good, veteran leader, and solid in his play. But you can't pay that $$ for a backup and have traded 20 1st round picks for Davenport to not use him.

Its davenport's job now to be that 3-down guy and I think he's gonna show up this year BIG. Everyone here has been excited about Hendrickson because he's shown flashes in his first 2 years, so I'm sure they thought its time for him to move on and get him snaps.

I like Hendrickson too but you don’t want him starting several weeks in case of a big injury. They need to find another veteran DE on the cheap somewhere

DE is pretty deep right now. If we miss on Ansah there are still some quality guys out there

Okafor was really good for us. He was great vs what we paid him. No where in hell near elite.
