My favorite albums of the century are Modest Mouse’s The Moon and Antarctica or Titus Andronicus’ The Monitor, but I would never argue they are objectively and certainly the best albums. Music is too subjective for that. Thinking Lateralus is the best album is a perfectly reasonable opinion, but thinking it isn’t certainly is too.

And second I didn’t hear any instruments only electronic shite so no they aren’t a band.

Just for fun, and cause it's my day off and I'm bored, let's go ahead and dive into the reasons this statement is factually incorrect and dumb as frick

1. They are like a 8 person band. A bassist, 2 guitarists, several percussionists, and at least 2 synthesizer players.

2. You are aware that if a song has electronic elements to it, that said electronic sounds can be produced by instruments, yes? Just because you hear an electronic sound in a song, it doesn't mean the whole song was made on a laptop. There are things called synthesizers that make these noises. And yes, people play that instrument, on stage.

3. "And second I didn’t hear any instruments" Are you deaf or stupid? I could link....well virtually any song ever made by LCD Soundsystem and point out an instrument being played. Yikes.

4. Explain to me exactly how if a band has electronic elements to it, it is not a "band". You know the Beatles used synthesizers right? Are the Beatles not a band?

Dantheman is getting upset!!!!!

I think we can all agree Widespread Panic is the clear cut best. It’s not up for debate. Doesn’t matter what century....

After them, I’d have to go with JRAD

LCD Soundsystem has more musical ability and plays more instruments both in the studio and live than just about anyone. So anyone who says they can’t hear instrumentation in their music immediately loses credibility lol

The documentary, Shut Up and Play the Hits, is awesome. They’re a great band with a killer live show. I wouldn’t rank them best by any means, but they are up there.

Arguably the best 2 rock albums of the century, though, right?

Certainly THE best (Lateralus), wouldn't you agree?

I really like both albums, but I wouldn't call them the best rock albums of the century.

I guess it depends on what you call rock though. Is War on Drugs rock? Are the shins? Are lower dens? Is wilco? Is tame impala? All have albums I think are better than Lateralus in this century. Not only that, I like Ænima better than Lateralus.

I will admit I don't listen to tool regularly much. My wife loathes them, so if she is around, I have to listen to them at a "reasonable volume" which to me isn't worth it.

Finally I am not super into ranking the best albums. It almost always depends on my mood and changes over time.

I think they're currently my favorite. Seen them a couple times since they got back together and they're a can't miss live show. Great driving music.
