I searched and didn't see anything. Has anyone checked them out? What are your thoughts? I see HBO and BBC are getting ready to release a series based on the books but I don't know much about them and was wondering if it was worth checking out.

Didn't they already make a movie out of The Golden Compass?

Yes, back in 2007

If you can get past all of the anti-church stuff (and that is a huge amount of it) then it's a pretty good read.

Read them for the first time back in the 90's. I've re-read them several times since then.
Good stuff.

I read all of the books in junior high. They were among my favorites, but, alas, I have forgotten most of what I read.
13-year-old Norb would highly recommend them.

The first book is beautiful. The second and third are really good, but they definitely require you like the first one.

The first book is by far the best in the trilogy. Second one is pretty good, but I was really disappointed by the finale.
It is definitely an atheist/agnostic response(?) to the more Christian-themed The Chronicles of Narnia for young adult fantasy.
Apparently he's written more things in that world besides the three in the trilogy. Might have to check them out someday.
