Fall of Hyperion was awesome, trying to decide if I should push on with the 3rd and 4th books or take a break and pick up something else in the interim.
Those books are set in the future after Fall of Hyperion correct?

Love, love, love this book. I hope you like it enough to read the rest of Frank Herbert's Dune books. You can go back and read his son's prequels, and his continuation of the original series, but read Frank's books first.

Simmons books are almost always a bit of a slog but generally worht it. The 3rd and 4th books in teh series are a big let down though. I would definitely take a break. Read something with a nice pace to it, and maybe not 700 pages.
I am reading Ball Lightning by Liu. Its really good, about 60% through. A very slow start tho.

Currently listening to Alec Hutson’s The Raveling series.
The first one, “The Red Queen”, was great and the 2nd one, “The Silver Sorceress”, has been just as good so far.

Yeah, these are both great fantasy books, particularly for a brand new author. Eagerly awaiting the third book, hopefully he gets the third out a little faster since he seems to be trying his hand at writing full time.

I just spent 10 mins trying to find this book before realizing the title is "the crimson queen" and just FYI it's free right now on Amazon Kindle Unlimited for anyone who has that. I'm going to start reading tonight.

I have mixed feelings about this series. Wizard in Glass is some of the best stuff I've read. The rest is good, but King sometimes can't help himself with his weirdness and occasional deus ex machina. I did not like the ending.

I loved the dark tower right up until Song of Susannah. I couldn’t finish it and never picked up the series again.
God that was a terrible book and I love King. SoS is the first king book I couldn’t finish

Ya I liked Dark Tower for the most part, but wouldn't really recommend it to a non-King fan. Last couple books were disappointing.

They are okay, far better current fantasy to read rather than those series IMO. The Thomas Covenant books would not be high on my list of books to recommend.
Donaldson's sci fi series The Gap Cycle is fantastic though and one of my favorite sci fi series that I've read (though the first book of that series is massively weaker than the rest).

Aside from Robert E. Howards stories like Conan (as I mentioned earlier IIRC) and Kull, I'd recommend mythology and classical epics like the iliad

Am I the only one that can't get into The Name of the Wind? I'm about 300 pages in and bored as shite.
I recently finished The Way of Kings and it was 10x better imo.

1st books was one of my all time favorite fantasy books and I've read/listened to them all.
Abercrombie's books are right up there with some of my favorites. The Bloody Nine is one of the best fantasy characters ever written.
