Leonardo DiCaprio has long been attached to an adaptation of Erik Larson’s book The Devil In The White City: Murder, Magic And Madness At The Fair That Changed America, the story of real-life serial killer Dr. H.H. Holmes. The book was originally going to be turned into a movie, but now it looks like it’s instead headed to the small screen.

Variety reports today that both DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese will executive produce “The Devil in the White City” for Hulu, a series based on Larson’s book about Holmes.

When the book was going to be turned into a film, DiCaprio himself was set to play Holmes, but we have no idea if that’s still the plan now that it’s becoming a series at Hulu.

I liked the book. Sounds kind of like The Alienist and that was a mediocre adaptation.

Loved the book
I have no interest in the murders, but for some reason am fascinated by old world's fairs and amusement parks.

On its 125th birthday, what’s left from the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition?

I like this as a series more than a movie if they get casting, production and the gore right. Don’t love that it’s going to Hulu. Would rather see it at hbo or Netflix, but I do like the idea of having extended time to fully realize the story.

Oh, and Hulu needs to hurry the frick up and fix their 4K content...as they offer none at the moment.

i started the book thinking i would be all about the murders, but i was quickly very intersted in Burnham's pulling off of the world fair. it was amazing that he built that in the time he did, and then that they just burned it all down at the end. 100 year old spoiler alert?
