What has the local media been feeding these fools?
A distant friend of the family contacted my wife about some tax issues (she's a CPA). It boiled down to a couple key points;
1- Could not itemize because the standard deduction was too high (somehow costing her a bigger refund) and it's all Trump's fault!
and to top it off
2- When queried about the increased take-home pay she saw all year, the response was "Yes, the 'Democrat' Tax Cut last year was the only thing that saved her".
My red-pilled wife (without pulling any punches) set the record straight and began severing ties. Stupid people can be exhausting but their mental contortionist gymnastics can be entertaining.

Yes it typed it correctly.. that individual actually credited the dems for the tax cut.... said she learned it from 'the news' while at the same time blaming trump that the standard deduction is preventing her from itemizing and therefore costing her a larger refund.

This is the first thing I think of when I hear people complain that their tax refund is smaller than it was last year. I want to yell :
"HEY IDIOT - your TAXES are lower, of course your REFUND will be lower!!!!"
I pay my taxes during the last week. I will have to pay a little MORE than I did last year - but only because my withholding was a LOT less. Overall my total tax bill is a lot less than last year.
