How safe are ‘other’ mesh WiFi systems?

I want to install Mesh WiFi for my house and several people I know are using systems that not well known. Not Google WiFi or anything.
The best reviewed one for the best price I’ve found is the MeshForce whole home internet. But is it safe to use a product that’s from a new company? Other attractive units are also from companies I’ve never heard of.
My question is Is this the Wild West of mesh internet where this is expected? Or am I getting scammed unless I stick to Google or Netgear’s Orbi?

case in point, the mesh force unit linked in the first post seems to be from a Chinese company. But all the reviews and youtube reviews really love it. So can I trust a Chinese company with my router? Are there security issues from lesser known companies?
I’m a newbie but I don’t want to have my banking info swiped, if that is even a possibility.

My router is years old, and I’m in a new house where there are too many walls between the only cable modem point and other devices. Should be a good time to try it out. I like that TP Link one but I also like the mesh force, I just wonder if it’s safe to use if it’s a Chinese company.

Why not just spend a little more and get the Google wifi?

Quit tripping over dollars to pick up pennies. You want a wifi-mesh system? Buy a reputable one. They arent that much more expensive.

Agree with jcole4lsu here. There's so many options in 2018/2019 for wifi mesh routers. I'd trust a google wifi or netgear orbi or something. Google may gather your info but it's just to push their own shite on your to buy.
I trust Google over any chinese company by a landslide and a half.

Thanks for all the comments. I’m a newbie, but I do understand what you all mean about spending more for something well-known. I don’t need a lot of advanced settings, so something closer to the Google Wi-Fi price range is better than some $500 rig. My only hesitation with google was what you mentioned, their notorious targeting with snooping, ads and data collection but I’m guessing they have all that info on me anyway

Google WiFi is absolutely worth the cost of you are getting mesh. It’s a super easy setup, and it’s fast and never loses connection. I’m really happy with mine

Have had nothing but success with Neatgear Orbi for the people I've recommended it to.
My parents have a very large house and I don't live close anymore and I installed this for them when I was in town and they haven't called me once for help.

I use Ubiquiti for my WiFi mesh system. It's easy to set up, the range is spectacular and the app (all controlled by your phone) is intuitive and well-laid out.

I too have Google Wifi and highly recommend it. Amazon has a 3pk for $250....only $50 more than the no name product you linked. Just spend the little bit of extra money and get a system from a well known company.
Also, it looks like that MeshForce maxes out at 100mbps.....depending where you live that might not be a problem but I live in the middle of Amish country and get 100mbps at my place.......speeds will just get faster.

I think scam is probably the wrong word, but you should consider the business model. Anything that needs to be regularly updated, like security patches on a router, or requires accessing it's own cloud services to function, ie to set up the device you have to create a "other.com" login, needs to come from a company that you think will exist 5 years from now. We've seen plenty of devices end up becoming bricks after they went out of business or even after becoming hot enough that someone else bought them and later shelved them.
I would be leery of any of these routers not backed by a major company. Orbi is Netgear, Linksys has a Mesh system, you mentioned Google. Eero was one of the first in this area so maybe they are safe but I'm not sure I'd make a $300 bet on it.

Just bought a Google WiFi off of eBay for $185 plus shipping. Only one of the access points looks to have been used. The other two power cords were still wrapped up. Came in original packaging.

Definitely just get Google mesh. It's fantastic

Can confirm. I use Google WiFi as well. I wire back hauled 2/3 APs. Works amazingly.
I’ve got a CCNA so I know a thing or two about networking. There may be better enterprise solutions but Google WiFi is great for everyone’s home network. In terms of data collection just make sure to adjust your privacy settings to opt out. Don’t get some Chinese router. Trust me.
