No big deal, man. Like I said, I main fortnite right now. I'm still only like 540 light. I really don't know when I'll play destiny again and that was the problem last time. I'm a PvP player mainly. I'll hit you up some time though.

Which is what Destiny became.

Everything was a hand out. Anything that requires skill ultimately was given out for free or close to it.

I’ve never more salt than from people in D1 who couldn’t make the lighthouse and would bitch non-stop about not getting the trophy, the emblem, guns and armor.

Even PvE shite was sad. A notable occurrence was with ToM from collecting all 50 shards on the dreadnaught and farming mats. Yeah it sucked arse doing that but it showed you had some kind of commitment to get a gun that made Oryx much easier. If people had that gun early on then i’d raid with them because it showed they actually wanted to beat the freaking thing.

This is because the playerbase is so small. In the peak time it was easy to find a group if you actually tried.

I do believe you that it’s likely a nightmare trying to find a group now if you haven’t beaten it.

I'm saying LFG are full of tards that have too high of requirements and seem all mighty even though they can just join a clan and do the same thing without clogging up the LFGs.

The simple answer here is don’t respond to them or start your own LFG. Ignore it. Some people don’t want to spend five hours trying to get a clear because they picked up someone who hasn’t beaten it before. It sucks, i’ve been in your shoes, we all have.

I noticed this when I gave it a shot while it was free. They just throw gear at you for anything. I remember being put off by how unrewarding it felt. Hopefully this split allows Bungie to focus on the hardcore playerbase like they initially wanted.

It's the same with WoW. There is ZERO point in keeping up with the patches because everything is going to just be given a "catch-up mechanic" anyway. 340 ilvl gear was mythic dungeon tier gear on release and my alt mage that I haven't run a single mythic on is 349 ilvl overall thanks to mythic dungeon level rewards from braindead PvE content. It actually blew my mind that I was rewarded with mythic gear for doing a PvE instance that you literally cannot lose.

Want to know what the common factor with these two things is?

But back to your point about players complaining, I know exactly what you mean. It's everywhere and it's disgusting. If there is ANYTHING exclusive or limited or is gated by a higher level of difficulty that has even a remote chance of leaving even the most casual of players out, people complain. MMOs aren't allowed to have items/features that aren't available to everyone anymore.

I've been saying since D1 there's absolutely no reason to not have matchmaking on raids. And Nightfall.

I agree that it’s dumb to not offer any kind of matchmaking for end game PvE, but at the same time and from experience....I get it.

I mean people will rubber band their controllers for strikes and crucible. Imagine putting together a group of six and you keep one of these idiots in your group? Half the people likely wouldn’t have a mic, would expect to get carried, would have no clue what’s going on, etc.

Matchmaking for end game sounds like a great idea, but for every person who would actively look for a decent group through it, there are 5x as many retards trolling in there. I honestly can’t imagine trying to do the VoG or Kingsfall with people whose commitment is completely unknown to me. At least if you find people on LFG you know they are familiar with what a group looks for, in terms of classes, LL and what not.

I will say that Nightfall is another story though. There should be optional matchmaking for that 100%. They aren’t nearly as hard as they used to be and can be done by any remotely competent group of three.

I'm fine with matchmaking on 3 man activities.

But a raid is different. Getting stuck with five other people that have varying degrees of knowledge of mechanics, personalities, and actual desire to finish sounds terrible. At least with lfg, you can figure out how many clears they have or if you are helping someone new.

Yeah I fully agree the better process is looking for a good group via LFG or people you know. But sometimes I don't even have time for a full raid and just want to jump in and get as far as I can, not really caring if it's the perfect experience.

Every other MMO with complex dungeons and raids has a matchmaking like system. You take the good with the bad.

The way Destiny players think their content is way too complex to mess with this still kills me.

I don't think it's too complex. I'm just not dealing with other people's shite.

But it's good to have for someone like me who wants to run content but it's impossible to schedule a regular time to do it.

And honestly, LFG needs to be built in. Sorry for continuing to use FFXIV as an example, but along with dutyfinder, they also have a party finder where you can advertise what conten you're doing and what you need to fill the party.

It's doable.

I can only relate to wow here..tjey have matching making for their raids but the lfg tier is shite. The normal/heroic and mythic dont have matchmaking. And their smaller group content like dungeons does have matchmaking but the endgame stuff for.small group content (mythic 5mans) does not.

So, for destiny to match make.most of their group content but not their elite end game raid doesnt bother me AT ALL..I prefer it.

Here is the difference, WOW and FF are both hardcore MMO’s. You have to invest a good amount to run endgame successfully.

You can be a total slapdick and be max light on Destiny just because of how the game rewards you for doing internediate tasks.

Activision gave their new CFO 15 million right after telling Blizzard to cut costs.

quote:

Jim Sterling on budget cuts for game development: "So microtransactions and loot boxes are “necessary” for games because they cost too much to make. Blizzard has to cut resources and reduce its budget for game development... Then Activision hands $15 million to its new executive like it’s nothing"

I agree with you on nightfalls. I can two man it with anyone who's half way decent at the game.

But you're out of your mind if you think matchmaking on raids is a good idea.

About 50% of the time when I play gambit the randos I join with don't know to kill the envoys before popping their supers on the boss. If gambit is too hard for them to figure out, what are the chances of beating last wish within 6 hours with these people?

There should definitely be in game LFG for raids. Plenty of other games have it incorporated seamlessly.
