What the hell was that. Seems like they were off at least a decade with all this shite. Only thing that was 90’s was the pop culture that was props in the background

Not funny at all.
I saw somewhere yesterday that Adam said this pilot actually tested better than The Goldbergs pilot. If so, I don't know how the show made it on the air.
Also, he said that he was hoping by this being aired it might get enough attention for it to get picked up - but aren't the two main stars already on other shows now?

I read months ago that they were planning a spinoff around the coach, which I immediately thought sounded terrible and one note. Looks like they decided to join the other least interesting character, the Tim Meadows principal, with him.
Less than 5 minutes in, my wife said, "I hate it already."
And this is coming from a woman who watches some awful shite on TV.
I initially liked The Goldbergs, but it needs to wrap it up. Every episode follows the same arc of everyone getting mad about some dumb shite and and yelling at each other, followed by a touching reconciliation (soft music in background) in the last 3 minutes. Awwwww.

Love the Goldbergs. My formative years were the 80s so naturally I pick it apart but the nostalgia is worth it. Last night sucked. Fresh off the boat is the 90s show. We didn’t need another one. Tim meadows is not funny at all but I like the coach. I won’t watch it again.

THEy could have tried better to include more 90s references. Have the gym shorts be longer, have neon outfits, etc. Hell, give the gym coach a beer gut to show the passage of time.

We hated their first spinoff pilot (see above post) but sort of liked this new one with Laney as a teacher. I asked my wife what she thought, and she said it “was not terrible”.
I may keep watching it, but I’ve quit the original show. They’ve done everything twice already.

I never watched the one from a year ago. Watched the first few minutes of this one and turned it off.

The Goldbergs worked because of pop culture callbacks. This doesn't do that properly.

Agreed. I was in HS for 90-94 and it wasn't that great.
