if you enable Steamworks mod support, it's amazing.

I'm willing to bet the playerbase dries up quicker on other platforms because the install base isn't as high.

I would bet most people aren't as lazy and uppity about playing a game and taking 1 second to go to one launcher instead of the other.

Black Flag is downloaded on Steam but it launches in Uplay. Kind of weird, but it's not too big of a deal and I only have to download once.

I think it's more of an issue of a friends list. If the game has a good in-game system for that, not too much trouble, but the ease of having all of your games and friends on one platform, while not end of the world, can be cumbersome and a turn off.

understood, but why should the dev fork over 15% of their sale to steam

Ubisoft is more than happy to do so by making console games. You know where the vast majority of Division sales will come from.

and I'll be avoiding just about everything not on Steam or GOG. GOG has a different purpose than Steam, so I understand their existence. I really don't want another storefront to deal with on PC.

With Anthem and Destiny 2, I would bet most people won't even play Division 2.

I apologize if I come off a little rude but it just seems ridiculous that y'all care so much about choosing a different launcher.

How do y'all think I feel when I play with cross platform xbox and have to either use game chat or xbox live app? I like discord more. I don't bitch about it though.

Using a chat app is absolutely nothing like using a different marketplace. With digital only marketplaces, you're only purchasing a license that can be revoked at any time, so it's more than understandable why someone would be apprehensive when Tencent is trying to get into the US market.
