For those of you who don't know, they play all the zelda games 24 hours a day over 6 days to raise money for charity.

Some of the little side skits they do are.. Interesting to say the least. But it's fun to watch the games and it's a good cause

I love watching them play the non popular installments.

Yes, A Link Between Worlds is a popular installment.

So games like Minish Cap and Spirit Tracks.

What do you do when your kid finds a community he loves but it full of little freaks like this one?

Some of the guys on the stream are not handling first time power well at all.

The Zelda streaming community has always been a little eccentric. Not sure why. Most of the speedrunners are pretty weird too.

They charge ppl to sit 100ft behind them while they play games.

It's weird and not sure who is ay fault. The ppl paying or the losers in the front.

You can watch this video or read the wall of text.

I don't know if you remember the Bonesaw incident a few years ago (the video touches on it a little), but they initially said he was only banned for a year. He had flown in from Japan to do a run that started at like 1 AM and was very clearly delusional. He got in trouble for impersonating Owen Wilson, cracking jokes at Air Canada (Which GDQ was so sensitive about that they actually tweeted at Air Canada apologizing, to which they replied asking wtf they were talking about.) and cursing like 3-4 times over the course of nearly 2 hours. Ironically, ask most people what the best GDQ run ever is and many people will say that Bonesaw Jak and Daxter run. That was 3 years ago. This past year Bonesaw revealed that he has applied to run at every GDQ since his suspension was up and has been denied every time.

Disclaimer: A transgendered runner was interviewed and echoed these sentiments below before I get shouted down for being transphobic.

Add that to the constant tranny agenda-pushing like them putting a BotW speedrun in one of the GDQ's like a month after the game released when the "speedrun" was basically just a let's play because the runner was trans. Keep in mind every slot they take with something like this takes away a slot from a legitimate runner. Add that in with not only flooding the runs with that agenda, but the interviewers and people on the mic (who used to be genuinely entertaining people) have now been replaced with, you guessed it, more trannies with zero personality or social skills. I don't mind the representation, but when it's clear that they only get the position because of their lifestyle choices and not what they bring to the production quality, it bothers me. The same way it bothers me a tranny runner can get approved for a run that isn't even fully routed yet. (By the way that run was a shitshow in the marathon) The same way it bothers me that a trans couple can make out on the couch front and center of the camera and it's perfectly acceptable but Bonesaw impersonating Owen Wilson is bannable.

Not a major thing but it should be noted they did kick out a paying customer for wearing a MAGA hat. They never kicked someone out for wearing the "I'm with her." apparel.

And if you want a reason that can't be dismissed by some snowflake calling me a bigot, there was the incident with the staff at the end of the Metroid race where GDQ staff literally forced a crowd of roughly 200 people to be completely silent for over 15 minutes by shouting "QUIET!" repeatedly so "runners could hear" even though they've done that exact same run every single GDQ and have always allowed the crowd to go nuts at the end, you know, because it's the finale of a charity event and the culmination of the single largest donation incentive in the entire marathon (save or kill the animals). The backlash was so bad that they left the Metroid run out for the first time ever the following GDQ.

It used to be a great thing, but political undertones and borderline oppressive management has robbed all purity the charity event had for me and it only gets worse every year. I didn't even watch this past one.

I love me some Zelda. I got excited seeing this thread thinking the sale was back on at best buy for LOZ 2017.

Interesting, I was not aware of any of that. Thanks for the info Drewbie.

I've actually never watched a live stream of AGDQ, I just watched a lot of the runs on YouTube.

Wonder why they turned a fun event for charity political. Seems like it would turn a lot of donors off.

Does ADGQ also run RPG Limit Break? I actually wanted to watch the Kingdom Hearts block if they do one this year.

I've always wondered what the donations would actually be if they cut out the ones that come in from their sponsors every year. I know The Yeti donates a massive portion of their sales at the end of the event.

I'm not aware if they're a part of any of the other charity events that don't directly have GDQ in the title or appear on that channel. As far as I know, RPG Limit Break doesn't have any affiliation with GDQ staff.

So safe to make a donation to them without supporting chicks with dicks or guys with tits?

I would say so

I also don't want to discourage anyone from donating to the charities the GDQ raise money for. Doctors Without Borders is genuinely a great charity, it's only the event that's trash.

They've done a lot of other shite to clamp down on fun at GDQs too. They have been making them worse every time. Such a shame.

I'm glad Zelda is breaking away from it. Love me some ALTTP Rando speed running.
