Wasn't it actually a French chef who lost a star?

Was it this guy?

Well yeah, anyone can cook.

Anyone can also play football. Doesn’t mean they belong anywhere near the NFL.

NOLA is famous worldwide as having unique and famous cuisine. How come it didn't make the list?

having eaten at M-Star restaurants on three continents, I can tell you that it isnt just about cuisine.

it's an entire class of service and attention to detail. Stuff like the chef personally serving your protein and describing how he cooked it and the best angle for cutting based on the marbling pattern.

You realize that’s from Ratatouille right?

The vast majority of people on earth do not even know the name New Orleans much less where it is or what food is served there.

LOL
The ones who love to travel and take food seriously most certainly know about New Orleans

Based on what little I know about this publication, Nola restaurants would probably not make the list due to not having the extremely polished service

Yeah, AbitaFan hasn't seen Ratatouille. Maybe he should get his kids/grandkids/nieces/nephews to watch it with him. It's one of the better Disney/Pixar movies imo.

My daughter used to love that movie. I've seen it dozens of times. Sadly, she's mostly outgrown the Disney/Pixar phase now.

I think there are a handful of restaurants in Nola that could obtain a single star. I can't think of any offhand that could get two or three, however. Those restaurants truly are a different kind of experience.

I have met a lot of people from third world countries. If they know anything about American cities, they know New York, Hollywood, and New Orleans. Sometimes, they also know of Chicago and Washington, but they've always heard of the first 3.

My experience is the exact opposite and I have spent 25 years working outside the US and I find it hard to believe you met a person who had not heard of DC, it is the most mentioned city on the planet simply for political reasons.

Now, when I've been in Europe, that's always been the case, but talking to Asians in particular, a lot of them have never heard of D.C. and assume New York is the capital.

Agree with this. Places like Commanders or Revolution would be one star restaurants but we don’t have anything here to jump into that next tier.

When I first started working overseas I would try to explain where I was from in relation to New Orleans as I assumed it was well enough known and found out very quickly how wrong I was outside of Europe.

Not sure what "Asians" you are referring to because I spent a decade in India and found they had heard of no southern cities other than Miami and the Middle East is the exact same.
