Not sure if it’s dangerous down there. Anyone have any idea or any experience there?

TIA

It was fine when I went last year. Had friends go a couple months ago, they noted no problems. Get reputable transport to and from the airport. If you aren't planning on leaving the beach resort areas, you should have nothing to worry about. If you plan on visiting the town center of Tulum or multiple cenotes and Mayan ruins significantly inland, I'd suggest using a driver that comes recommended by your hotel or otherwise. We did all of that and had no issue, but we were able to trust our driver to keep us out of trouble.

I went there last summer and drove around by myself and also with my family... No issues. Probably greater chance of catching bubonic plague at the resort than getting in some trouble unless you go looking for it.

If you drove around would you be leaving the resort and forgoing your "bubonic plague" reference?

Went there this year and never felt unsafe at all. Everyone was extreme nice. We stayed at the Beach Zone. We would walk home from the resteraunts/bars on the beach late at night and never felt spooked. Tulum is nice just check to see if there is another sargassum outbreak like they did this past Spring/Summer.

And yes being from New Orleans, the French Quarter is waaaaaaayyyyy more dangerous then Tulum.
