Anyone have suggestions for diy alarm? I'm currently with a brinks system costing $25 a month. Looking for something cheaper and smarter. Would need to integrate with Google home.

I'm not even against self monitoring, with a local audible alarm, just looking for suggestions

With Ring Alarm there is no point in going unmonitored anymore, it’s $10 a month or $100 a year. You also get unlimited cameras for that price.

Hang some tin cans and pie plates from a string, and rig that up like a trip wire.

It is supposed to, it’s in development currently.

Contemplating changing out an older Bosch wired system to a new wireless one. I have 20 windows and doors to replace sensors on but I have read that rarely do burglars enter thru windows and that these sensors are not needed. No window sensors would save me about $300. Worth it?

Simply Safe is $15 a month. Not sure if it integrates with Google Home, though. Look into that

Saving only $300 doesn’t seem worth it. If you are going through the trouble to install an alarm system, I’d probably just go ahead and put on the window sensors. You’ll prob feel really stupid if you upgrade and then get robbed thru a window because you saved $300.
