ChristineBlaseyFord Doesn't Just Have "Ties" to Corcept Therapeutics, She Works For Them?
Posted by NC_Tigah

It isn't just that Blasey's published studies happen to include work on RU-486.
It turns out, she has been employed by the damn company.
She has been on Corcept's payroll.
Unbelievable!
You would think the fact Christine Blasey Ford worked as Director of Biostatistics for the Abortion Pill Manufacturer, Corcept Therapeutics, would be newsworthy.
Wouldn't you?
Yet outside of unreliable/obscure outlets, there is barely a peep.
In fact, the only mention I can find at all is in the SF Chronicle. That sole notation is buried near the end of an article.
She scrubbed her Linkedin Account, but here is her bio from the 2017-18 Palo Alto University Catalog:

Ford earned her doctorate in counseling psychology from USC and a master’s degree in epidemiology, specializing in biostatistics, from Stanford’s School of Medicine. Outside of academia, she does consulting for pharmaceutical firms, helping design clinical trials. According to her faculty biography in a course catalog, she worked as director of biostatistics for Corcept Therapeutics in Menlo Park.

Dr. Blasey earned a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern California and completed her dissertation in the laboratory of Dr. Gayla Margolin, working on the Family Studies Project. Her dissertation was the development of a new measure to assess coping among young children. Since that time, she has worked for 20 years as Research Psychologist and Biostatistician both in academia (Stanford University Department of Psychiatry) and in the biotech industry (Director of Biostatistics, Corcept Therapeutics).

In order to market a drug, a company has to do studies for the indication for which the drug will be used.
Corcept’s sole product is Korlym.
Korlym’s sole indication is:
As a poster noted yesterday, “But a doctor can use drugs off label. This is the abortion drug.”
Both of those are correct. However, Korlym is one of those greedy pharmaceutical bastard companies. Having done the research for their product, they now charge literally hundreds of thousands of dollars for a years treatment.
Additionally, Corcept does not manufacture the drug. They rely on a third party supplier. So they are not reselling Korlym as a generic to a third party.
In short, it’s unlikely that Corcept makes any money off abortion.
I hope this isn’t the silver bullet the Senate Judiciary thinks they have. It’s a giant dud.

Korlym’s sole indication is:

KORLYM (mifepristone) is a cortisol receptor blocker indicated to control hyperglycemia secondary to hypercortisolism in adult patients with endogenous Cushing’s syndrome who have type 2 diabetes mellitus or glucose intolerance and have failed surgery or are not candidates for surgery.

KORLYM 300mg tablets (Qty:28) appx. price $13397.00

The cost for misoprostol oral tablet 100 mcg is around $16 for a supply of 12 tablets, depending on the pharmacy you visit.

And mifepristone is available from sources other than Corcept for much cheaper.
Unit price for mifepristone is around $80-$90.
That’s far below Corcept pricing.
Corcept doesn’t manufacture their own drug.
LINK
Additionally, Corcept is developing a 2nd gen product for the treatment of the side effects of Cushing’s that doesn’t have the abortion side effects, Relacorilant.
Anyone is free to show me more data. But this doesn’t appear to be a smoking gun that it initially appears to be.

Corcept is facing a generic challenge from generic giant Teva on their sole product. Teva may not be ready to manufacture until 2020 or so, though.

At $16 for 12 tablets of 100 mcg, it would cost $112,000.00 to reach an equivalent dosage for the same 28 tablets of 300 mg each.

Just call her Christine Ford. These folks that want to be called by three names are usually loons.

Just call her Christine Ford
Is it odd that google searches to me show mostly Corcept Therapeutics with references to Korlym as a diabetes treatment, i.e., not a lot of direct references to them as a manufacturer of an abortion pill? It’s early, this looks strange.

Where does that say it doesn’t manufacture it? That’s just an agreement allowing another company to manufacture it as well.
quote:Abortion is an off-label usage. Corcept is pushing wider use application in appetite d/o's, Cushing's etc. Perhaps this will turn out like an Atarax vs Vistaril or Revatio vs Viagra equation where the same drug is marketed under different names for different purposes.

None of Blasey's research relates to abortion applications. But spin it anyway you like, the fact this info is completely unaddressed in the media is inexcusable.
