So I did some searching on here based on past recommendations, and we've planned out so far:

- Field Museum
- twilight architecture cruise
- hancock tower signature room for drinks at dusk
- dinner at GT Prime afterward

Any good recommendations for bars to go to after dinner on Saturday? good brunch spots for Sunday (reservations required)?

Sienna Tavern is in a great location and terrific for food and cocktails. Great people watching. they might have a brunch as well.

One of the favorite things my wife and I did in Chicago was second city comedy club. Its where most of the SNL greats got their start. Its great. FYI, if you do go, that area of town has some great pubs. Cafe Baba Reeba is a tapas place by there and we loved it

Girl and the Goat- although prob too late for reservations, is one of the best meals ive eaten. Great places in west loop area by it as well.

Thanks bud! How about a rooftop bar--did you have the chance to go to any cool ones?

Cindy’s Rooftop Bar. Haven’t spent much time in Chicago but I can’t imagine a better post dinner spot to grab a drink. Great views of the Park and Bean

Second City is funny but make sure you look up what show. I think it can be hit or miss. Personally the improv bits were hilarious but the premade skits weren’t great. This show was very little improv based

Cindys just gets too crowded and you will have to wait to go up at almost any time. J Parker is my fav rooftop but it also gets crowded.

There's a rooftop bar at The Robey Hotel in Wicker Park/Bucktown (blue line stop right there)... Gives a cool view of the city from the 6 points area... tallest building in the area... thats looking out down North and Milwaukee...

That’s the Up & Up. Great view and one of my favorite spots in the city. Word of caution: they don’t allow you to be standing. You must have a table and it’ll fill up quick on the weekend when it opens (6:00pm). Would recommend getting to The Robey prior to 6:00pm and grab a drink at the lounge on the second floor or head to my one of my favorite summer spots, Cabana Club, on one of the higher floors (think it’s six or seven).

I’ve mentioned this a few times, but many of my Girl and the Goat reservations have been made days (even a day) prior to my desired dining date. People make reservations so far in advance that plans come up and they are forced to cancel that week or when the restaurant calls to confirm.

If the reservation is there, take it, but don’t lose total and complete hope should nothing be available.

Get out of the downtown and River North area, if possible. So many great, bustling neighborhoods in Chicago that deserve to be seen.

I’m out of the country and on my phone, so I can provide a limited list once I know, but how old are you and what types of bars are you looking for? Younger and rowdier, laid-back and upscale, dive, etc.?

As for brunch, are you looking for a spot also known for its drinks or are you more-interested in the food options?

Again, I’m out of country, so I apologize if I miss your post. Currently typing from bed.

Thanks for all the tips everyone, so much to do this weekend haha.

I definitely want to go to The Girl and the Goat but we'll see about reservations--I'm also trying to get in at Bavettes over GT prime, hopefully it'll work out.

I'm 30 and my girlfriend is 24; we're looking for more laid back/upscale type places but still fairly casual (I don't want to pack a suit but am bringing a blazer).

As for brunch, I didn't really have a preference on what exactly we were looking for--didn't know if there might be a place that is "the" brunch spot.

also, any recommendations on specialty drinks (if they exist) to order at certain places would be much appreciated.

I enjoyed China Town. We uber'd there from the Field Museum, like 2ish miles around $10. Then took the train back to River North area there's a train stop 100 feet from China Town. Ate at the dumpling place, got some bubble teas, etc. Something different and unique to the bigger cities.

Field Museum was kinda forgettable outside of the dinosaur parts. They nickel and dime you to get into half the place too so we only saw around half.

It's not hard to find a rooftop bar for sure, but by and large those are pretty pretentious. Lots of good bars with beer gardens to check out, and you won't be paying 20 a drink. When the warm weather hits chicago goes crazy. People everywhere, outside constantly.

If you're down by the beach, stop at castaways for one. Good people watching. Image search castaways chicago and you'll see what I mean.

I'd second that onthe field museum. Unless you're really into that, there's so much going on in townand placesto check out. You want to be outside. I'd suggest checking out the street festival calendar and maybe stopby one of those. There is one or more every weekend.
