Labas has command + three pitches + poised.

Hard to find as a #3 starter in the college game.

Just imagine the pitching if Walker was healthy....

Agreed. These things happen for a reason.

I don’t think Hillard wouldn’t do well in a starter role but if I’m construsting the bullpen he’s one of the main guys i want in the 6th and 7th.

Fontenot looked very poised the other night as well, getting these games in early with Notre Dame, Texas, Southeastern, and ULL are going to pay back quick when they get into SEC play. The worst thing a young team can do is skate through a weak non conference and get punched in the mouth the first weekend in conference.

Looks like we may see Kodros soon too.

Also from James Moran
Sounds like LHP John Kodros will be available out of the bullpen for the first time this weekend

Why hasn’t he pitched so far?
I don’t know anything about him

What’s the story on this guy? Highly touted? I haven’t heard his name honestly

So say Storz Labas Hilliard and Sanders all pan out and look like potential starters....how many downvotes will I get if I ask if there's a chance Hess gets moved back to the closer role?

Just from reading up on him, he's a tall lengthy left hander who doesn't throw the hardest, but he has good control and command and can place the ball where he wants it. His pitches have a natural and deceptive downward motion. Has an out pitch in a good curve.

Kinda like when we'd throw Cotton after, well most of the team?

If everyone stays healthy (monster if), the pitching is going to be a real strength. Power arms like Labas/Storz/Sanders in the pen is reminiscent of Florida's depth.

Wow. Awesome news if we can get Storz back and he looks good too. At this point our pitching really is looking up. Granted I'd say our opposition hitting level is a bit down from earlier in the season but we still haven't been playing all scrubs. Don't know much about kodros but having another good arm could only help. Bain at 1b is interesting.

Eta:
Wonder if Labas will pitch at all this weekend

Jake Slaughter batting leading was a one-game experiment

Pulling for Jake 'cause I know he's had a rough start to '18. I think CPM realizes we're lean on power and Jake could be a difference maker there. That said, I almost feel like Bain could be the power-provider CPM had hoped Jake would be.

I don't have a problem with Slaughter in the lineup, but having him lead off was very confusing to say the least.

From Perfect Game

"John Kodros is a 2017 LHP with a 6-5 165 lb. frame from Coppell, TX who attends Coppell HS. Very slender build, long limbs, should get stronger but will never been anything but tall and lean. Funky, multi-piece delivery, very deceptive, low 3/4's arm slot and will drop lower at times, repeats his mechanics very impressively. Fastball topped out at 84 mph, worked consistently at 85-87 mph last summer so more velocity is there, lots of arm side running action. Primary pitch is his breaking ball, will use it often, has the ability to manipulate it into both curveball and slider shapes with the same velocity, very advanced feel for spinning the ball and locating it to both sides of the plate. Will be death on left handed hitters at any level he pitches at. Excellent student, verbal commitment to Louisiana State."

Hopefully all goes well. Having a guy in the pen that throws mid 90s will be welcome. I feel like Labas and Storz will be competing for the friday spot next season.
