The Island - Membership
Not a member there any longer. Just received an email from the GM about a rate increase on membership.

Any members from the Island on here that has an opinion on the increase?

I am considering joining back soon. How are the course conditions?

I was a Jr. member out there for a while. It was the only place I could make myself a bond on the driver and hit it to 150. I got down to a 4 handicap out there. Of course I was a young flat belly back then

Can't help with the original topic, but played it 15 years ago. I remember water in play on 17 of the holes, sloping fairways everywhere, and they ran out faster than any greens I've ever played. It was brutal, but fun.

Conditions are good, not great. Bunker work in progress. Greens are smooth and fast right now. Fairways have always been thin but nothing to complain about. I'm a member and I haven't seen anything about an increase. I believe they may have changed the price structure but I have green fee and cart together. Best deal around.

The 50 year old "new bridge" doesn't affect me but I can see how that is a deal breaker to some. I'm closer to pelican point but rather the people at the island.

I stand corrected. $25 a month increase April 2018. This is a 12% increase in 1yr. I will rethink my options.

Not sure how good a deal this is. For me and my son, I'm spending close to $50 to play the 9 hole course each time unless I walk. That won't happen in 90+ heat.

HAHA, that deal is an absolute joke. You have to pay 22 frickin dollars for a cart and 7.00 for the range PER visit.

When’s the last time you walked the Links? Walking the Get Golf Ready course is a different story. So I pay 150.00 for the right to walk a 9 hole course after 3? And if I need to warm up, I’m still coming out of pocket?

I wonder what kind of hackers that type of deal will attract and how the current members feel about it???

You can't walk the Links course on their deal. It's just the cart fee $22 after 3. I don't think that's a bad deal.

You can walk the 9 hole course anytime for free on their deal. Guy's on Friday paid $42 to play the Lakes course (that's what they're calling it again). Range is $7.

One of the guy's in my group was a 2 hcp.

I'm guessing that the members voted to do this instead of raising the monthly fees.

I was on the fence about doing it. But if I can sneak out a couple times a week and walk 9 holes it pays for it pretty quick.

website right now is advertising $115 for full family membership. That is ridiculously good. Even it does goes up $40 next month, still the best deal in this area. Just wish it was more convenient for me to make it out there often.

Greystone is $250/month and range is NOT included in the amount. That shocked me a little when I saw the membership packet. Cart fees are not much less at $18 (I believe)
