I currently am unhappy with Cox as we have the same issues with upload speeds every three months.

Wind picks up

Upload speed drops from 35+ to less than 0.6 and it affects the loading of websites and buffering on streams.

Call Cox

Uhhhh did you reset your box?

We’ll send someone on Thursday at 3pm

Dude shows up “did you reset your box?” and resets box

Nothing happens

No man, I’m telling you right now, the problem isn’t on the house or on the side of the house...it’s the pole outside to the left of the door

Dude checks everything possible inside and outside the house to avoid climbing the pole

He can’t fix it after 3 hours

Another dude has to come the next day.

He fixes it

Upload speeds back to normal until the wind blows again.

I really want fiber

No fiber yet and it’s bizarre it’s taking this long.

I have ATT Fiber and I'm in Old Jefferson. If it's not at your place, it's gotta be close.

Check ATTs fiber page often. I just did an address check one day and they said it was available.

I've been happy with Uverse with the 24MB speed. We've never had issues with slow speeds while having multiple streams going and browsing on our phones.

ETA: Based off all the chatter about Cox outages on the OMH facebook page, I'd never consider Cox in the area.

They are rolling out in New Orleans, Lakeview as an example. Do you have those white poles sticking out of the ground w/ the orange cap from AT&T?

I don't. Mine was weird from what I've heard. They did an above ground wiring where they ran it from a pole like they would if it were Cox or "normal" ATT Uverse.
But it was definitely a fiber cable and it's definitely fast as anything I've ever seen in my life.

replace Cox with ATT and you have my exact situation. I live in "new" metairie between West Esplanade and the Lake, off Bonnabel.

The only benefit I will give ATT is that i'm somewhat convinced my router/modem box is absolute garbage and needs to be replaced. However, my contract is up in may and if they don't give me a very good price, i'm cutting the cord.

Has AT&T been reliable? That's my only concern. They just laid fiber in our neighborhood in BR. I haven't had the issues that OP has had with Cox. I think our internet has gone down once for 30 minutes (other than the flood) in 5 years. I consistently get 150/10 Mbps
