The thought that shoe companies have found a better running platform than mother nature (your own foot design) is arrogant. You were designed with the best running platform

I have:
-0 drop-Altra One,
-4mm drop- Saucony Kinvara,
-12mm drop- Brooks Ghost.

I run in all of them.

To say mother nature designed the best running platform may be true, but you haven't lived your life (31 years in my case) training my body to use the platform mother nature provided to me properly.

If I run in my 0mm drops more than ~6 miles, I start getting hurt. I'd probably not run more than 20 MPW in my 4mm drop shoes. When I do my long runs, it's all in my 12mm drop Brooks Ghosts. And right now, my mileage is in the 30+ MPW range, so I pretty much only run in the 12mm drop unless I'm doing something 45 minutes or less.

I've been hurt a lot recently. I'm starting to get a pain in my foot right now. Cuboid pain I've had before and strained again when I ran too far this weekend. Knew my legs were too tired, but stretched the run anyway. Shoes play a huge role when your body isn't muscularly balanced correctly with both strength and flexibility (and mine never is for some reason)

Hoka One One. Ugliest shoes ever made, because it hides their awesomeness.

They play a huge role in hurting you. When I switched I was an easy 15 miles a week runner, more of a hobby. I went down to walking-only for two to three weeks before considering a run. I went up to 30 mile weeks but my interests changed. I was hurt with a swollen knee when I switched over - never hurt in the 4 yrs after. I am also not killing 6 min miles either.

Not sure if anyone is still looking, but Kohl's on Siegen has a limited number of running shoes on clearance. A couple different kind of New Balance and Nike. They were all around $40. I saw sizes between 9 and 11 1/2. I got a pair of the NB All Terrain Trainers. Super comfy and were perfect on my run today.
