I agree with Geoff on all accounts, the one thing Jurgen was good at was making sure our young guys went overseas.

Klins should have stayed in some type of director of football like role, which was the original plan after he was done being the manager.
Tactically he was all over the place, but everything else about his philosophy was spot on.

I don’t know what your stance was on Jürgen leading up to his dismissal or the aftermath of his firing, so forgive me if your sentiment here is consistent with what you were saying at the time. But the idea of him moving to a director type role immediately after that shite storm was not an option at the time. Not saying it would be a terrible idea, but I can say pretty confidently that literally no one wanted him sticking around under any circumstance. Also, there’s no way he would have agreed to that anyway, regardless of any potential position offered to him. No way a guy like Jürgen would be willing to stay on just to watch another dude guide his team to what was still thought of at the time an almost certain World Cup berth. But like I said, if this was your stance when it was all happening, fair enough.

I’m aware of that, but his dismissal as manager under the circumstances also obviously meant forfeiture of any position he held at the time within US Soccer.
