Basketball win vs Arkansas was reminiscent of 2003 final month

Watching LSU put on a clinic and take apart Arkansas on their home floor was very reminiscent of the LSU team down the stretch in 2003. John Brady moved Xavier Whipple into the starting lineup at the point with Torris Bright at shooting guard. The front line of Ronald Dupree, Jaime Lloreda and Antonio Hudson along with Collis Temple III and freshman Darrel Mitchell were unstoppable in the last month of the season as they ran the offense to virtual perfection.

Then suddenly the magic disappeared in the second half against Purdue in the NCAA tournament. But it was a great run an dsome very efficient basketball. John Brady must have appreciated watching Will Wade's emerging team play with such precision.

Vividly remember that run. What did we win, like 8-10 in a row or something? We beat top 10 UF and had that incredible home finale against bama. I'll never forget the ridiculous alley oop bright threw to Dupree. Brought the house down and I think temple dunked right after that. Place was bonkers.

Yes, they caught fire and just shot lights out through the month of February Moving Torris to shooting guard was huge as it took ball handling pressure off of him.

Jamie was one of the most underrated post players ever at LSU. He was the best offensive rebounder I’ve seen outside of Shaq and was immovable on the block. He was 245 but people that weighed 40lbs more than him couldn’t move him an inch.

What a great run that was. I was 25 years old at the time and had the world by the horns. Thanks for bringing those memories back. After every home game that year we would celebrate with a few brews at the Chimes. Love those memories.
